If this procedure was easily reversible and tested a bit more then I would probably do it, in conjunction with being in a monogamous relationship.
Monogamous relationships *should* take care of any chance for STI and this procedure should take care of having to use a condom to protect each other from getting pregnant. This has to be reversible though because I am 20 and if I decide that I want babies when I'm 25-28 and it turns out I can't until I'm 30+ I'll be pissed. ![]() In terms of casual sex though, condoms are always #1.

I can't say anything to the extent of dimethyl sulfoxide's toxicity, but, in my mind, the world is too big a place to be worried about "potential carcinogenics". Mostly because almost fucking everything is a confirmed carcinogenic or a "probable" carcinogenic. Examples: Alcoholic beverage consumption Environmental tobacco smoke Solar radiation Wood dust Art glass, glass containers, and press ware (manufacture of) Engine exhaust, diesel Frying, emissions from high-temperature Hairdresser or barber (workplace exposure as) Baklava Wrote:How about this solution; stop being lazy, and stop giving people excuses to be lazy.Yeah, screw those women too lazy to take birth control pills! Then again, I'm always paranoid about potential long-term effects of chemicals.

I think those of you with various doubts as to safety, reversibility, etc, should click the links to find out. Especially the one labeled RISUG, which takes you to a page with more detailed information as to the testing already done in India (on rats, monkeys, and men), and the things yet to be tested.
Other links will inform you of the state of the program in the USA.

But then, that's because I've seen it happen to a cousin of mine, some tub of lard tricked him and now he's paying for it. At least he broke up with her, god damn she was the definition of 3DPD.

I'm sure he didn't intend it as such. While there are side effects for women to take the initiative, there are also the women that would forget to take it because they are lazy. He didn't say all women. Just like I'm sure birth control for guys could prove helpful/better suited for some people. If two people are in a more serious, committed relationship, then that option may be perfect for them. If it's just a 2-3 month long relationship, I don't see a purpose in it.

My parents are doctors and I talk to them about latest health technologies involving chemicals and clinical trials associated with them. I may not be a part of the industry, but I've got quite a good understanding of what's toxic and what isn't. Way to take me completely out of context and accentuate everything negative that you perceived. What I'm saying is that they (doctors and pharmaceuticals) are giving both women AND men more excuses to be lazy with these long-acting contraceptives, with complete disregard for possible exposure to toxins potential complications from procedures that could be more damaging to one's health. Not to mention that these involve expensive procedures that are neither guaranteed to succeed, nor leave you intact. What I hate more is that it seems like they're sugar coating the study. "It's a safe* contraceptive method with non-toxic* chemicals!(*see brochure full medical and legal details)" This goes for all contraceptives in the testing phase, male, female, unisex, hermaphrodite. I'm well aware of the side effects of taking the pill, let alone any kind of pill. I didn't say that -all- women did that, nor did I say that women should be placed at fault for such. Side effects are side effects, and I respect the decision to not take it if you don't want them. PS; I never even said that it's the woman's responsibility alone to deal with contraception. If I recall, packing condoms and using them are 100% the man's responsibility. I mean, if I'm ever in a relationship and my (probably unfortunate, because I'm me) girlfriend tells me that she's not on the pill and doesn't want to take it, I'll try to be as responsible as I can for both of us. That's not to say I won't be responsible if she is taking the pill, I still would be. BECAUSE I CARE. And I never singled out women either, wow where did you get that? Why do you constantly like twisting someone's words into something you can argue about? It vexes me. icephoenix21 Wrote:I'm sure he didn't intend it as such. For some reason, though, the general population of idiots for some reason thinks removing/reducing sperm makes you ejaculate less or nothing at all... I've heard this to be a main reason why men don't want to get a vasectomy even after having like 12 kids. :f6: oh, stupid people...

He can back-peddle all he wants and say "that's not what I meant", but it's what he said. Baklava Wrote:My parents are doctors and I talk to them about latest health technologies involving chemicals and clinical trials associated with them. I may not be a part of the industry, but I've got quite a good understanding of what's toxic and what isn't.Your parents being doctors does not innately make you a reliable source of insight. Now, I'd love to hear how I took your words out of context or "twisted" them, but that would require you to actually have used them in a different context. For someone who claims to have gained such vast knowledge just by having doctors as parents, you sure don't seem to have any insight into what a clinical trial is. Testing has already indicated that, yes, the method is guaranteed to succeed AND leave you intact. God, it's like you didn't even read the article. Other issues, like "possible exposure to toxins potential complications from procedures", are the entire reason the clinical trial exists, and, based on those trials so far, this method appears to be safe. Keep in mind that people who are actually qualified to do such research are performing and reviewing these trials, and that makes them better judges on this than you and your parents. Of course, claiming that wanting a safer, more cost-effective contraceptive makes someone "lazy" pretty much ensured that your opinion was lacking in perspective in the first place. Not that that should be surprising sense, as a virgin, you don't have any real personal experience to add to the discussion. It is, after all, so much easier to tell people what they should be doing when you don't have to do it yourself. Here's some perspective though: Claiming this might-be-innovation that could revolutionize contraceptive only serves to make people lazy makes you look about as crazy as those who might have shouted that the computer or the car were terrible creations. They tested 138 people and said it worked on 'most' of them, anyone who does clinical trials knows that's way too small a sample size to say it's guaranteed to work AND safe to use. They still don't know the extent of the toxicity, or the long term aftereffects it might have if it's reversed.
That's not at all what I meant by laziness, but whatever. I won't argue it because you're just going to accuse me of something else. Why do you read into everything like what I say is as static as it can get. This isn't damn politics; not everything is clad in iron, ready for criticism, without any other meaning or reason. It's the god damn internet. But okay, I'm a horrible person akin to Rush Limbaugh. Whatever you say, I guess I can die now?

Go find a calendar real quick, read the year, and tell me how many years have occurred since then, years in which more trials were and continue to be conducted. By the way, India has been testing this procedure since 1993. For those who don't like math, that's 19 years. Not long-term enough for you?
