The best birth control ever - Takebacker - 2012-03-29 http://techcitement.com/culture/the-best-birth-control-in-the-world-is-for-men/#.T3EfKTFX9OI Quote:If I were going to describe the perfect contraceptive, it would go something like this: no babies, no latex, no daily pill to remember, no hormones to interfere with mood or sex drive, no negative health effects whatsoever, and 100 percent effectiveness. The funny thing is, something like that currently exists. And here i was thinking a vasectomy would be awesome, but those are apparently 500-1 grand. This would be amazing in the US. The best birth control ever - Panacea - 2012-03-29 Not gonna lie, the thought of having them go in and do that makes me squirm. This might as well be removing a splinter in comparison, lol. If that splinter caused babies and HIV that is. The best birth control ever - Panacea - 2012-03-29 That isn't to say that I'm against this, I was merely just saying. The thought of having any sharp object go near my man parts makes me uneasy. Kudos to those who discovered this. The best birth control ever - Blake - 2012-03-29 I hear homosexuality is pretty effective too, and it's been around for centuries. The best birth control ever - CrazyForDex - 2012-03-29 Blake Wrote:I hear homosexuality is pretty effective too, and it's been around for centuries. >Homosexuality is effective against AIDS. Interesting method, I was worried that if people suddenly wanted to have a baby that they would have to wait the full 10 years, but it seems doctors found a way around that too. Something like this just seems too good to be true, even though I'm not really for the whole "tear up my sperm pls" idea. The best birth control ever - KhainiWest - 2012-03-29 ...THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS CONSEQUENCE-LESS SEX. EVER. IT'S ALL A LIE. A LIE I SAY. The best birth control ever - Arrg - 2012-03-29 I already have delayed ejaculation, so getting a girl pregnant is pretty much a non-issue for me. Sex ends whenever I get tired or bored. Also, I don't like needles, and I definitely wouldn't want one anywhere near my genitals. The best birth control ever - SaptaZapta - 2012-03-29 I'm a bit skeptical of claims of "100% effectiveness", especially of something that's supposed to somehow wear off over time. At 9.5 years it's 100% effective, but at 10 years it's not? Regardless of conditions like temperature, pressure, or, umm, frequency of use? Such a nice round number, 10 years... Anyway, I wish them luck with the research. The best birth control ever - icephoenix21 - 2012-03-29 I think I'd rather just have the responsibility of birth control..y'know since guys don't have to worry about a baby growing inside them >_> The best birth control ever - KhainiWest - 2012-03-29 icephoenix21 Wrote:I think I'd rather just have the responsibility of birth control..y'know since guys don't have to worry about a baby growing inside them >_> "Ye girl I got the needle, don't worry about it!" saptazapta Wrote:[INDENT]I'm a bit skeptical of claims of "100% effectiveness", especially of something that's supposed to somehow wear off over time. Typically for these types of procedures they tell you to refresh it when it starts to become ineffective, which on average is 10 years. The best birth control ever - Viaje - 2012-03-29 Takebacker Wrote:If that splinter caused... ...HIV that is.A couple issues with that statement (that lead to my issue with the article). If the 'splinter' in this scenario is reproductive-cable sperm, then labeling it as the "cause" of HIV is inaccurate. In fact, it's not even a method of transmission; semen is. Now, the idea that this procedure would have the side-effect of destroying HIV in semen is still all theory. Even the study that the article links to is just an abstract, an abstract from 2005 no less, and I can't find anything anywhere that shows any evidence that that study concluded that the procedure would eliminate HIV in semen. The best I can find is that the study is seemingly on-going. Assuming that the study does conclude that the procedure eliminates HIV in semen, it would no doubt be an amazing step in preventing further transmission of the disease, it wouldn't affect the risk of infection through other fluids. As far as being a just a birth-control method, I only really see this particular procedure being really useful in a long-term, monogamous relationship. Then it's great because I know how much birth-control pills can alter a person. Otherwise, the most recommended method of contraception is using condoms because they have the added bonus of preventing STI transmission. The best way to protect yourself is to be personally responsible; you can't rely on every person you sleep with having had this procedure. Or, you know, having been recently tested for STIs. The best birth control ever - icephoenix21 - 2012-03-29 KhainiWest Wrote:"Ye girl I got the needle, don't worry about it!" ^Definitely one reason. Although, if you're just hooking up with a guy and get knocked up, you deserved it ..and I laugh in your general direction
The best birth control ever - KhainiWest - 2012-03-29 Well they said the "perfect contraception", described their perception of it, and said it exists. None the less I was just just messin The best birth control ever - Foxino - 2012-03-29 I am not having a needle going in that area. And besides what if you actually want a baby? Is it reversible? Or do you have to wait 10 years? The best birth control ever - KhainiWest - 2012-03-29 Durex Wrote:I am not having a needle going in that area. And besides what if you actually want a baby? Nah i wasn't suggesting anything but the sperm was causing it (well, mostly sperm, anyway). Was just trying to be clever is all. I wasn't really for it just because it claimed to eliminate HIV, it was just an added benefit of the procedure even if it didn't actually eliminate it 100%. And yeah, i only really saw it useful for long term monogamous relationships too. Random sex is still really dangerous and it's not like condoms in that case would be expensive or unwise. The best birth control ever - Baklava - 2012-03-29 Putting two suspicious sounding chemicals in a part of my body for a prolonged amount of time (10 years wut) doesn't sound like something I want to be doing. A quick search shows that dimethyl sulfoxide is mildly toxic, and styrene is potentially carcinogenic. :l How about this solution; stop being lazy, and stop giving people excuses to be lazy. It doesn't take a lumberjack's worth of effort to, god forbid, remember AND use a condom/take a pill. e_e The best birth control ever - Blake - 2012-03-29 CrazyForDex Wrote:>Homosexuality is effective against AIDS. Well I didn't say all the bugs had been worked out. It does prevent birth though. |
