The best birth control ever

I'm sure he didn't intend it as such. While there are side effects for women to take the initiative, there are also the women that would forget to take it because they are lazy. He didn't say all women.

He didn't have to say "all women".

In a Rush Limbaugh-esque flurry of words, he only presented a single reason for which people might seek this procedure.
He can back-peddle all he wants and say "that's not what I meant", but it's what he said.

My parents are doctors and I talk to them about latest health technologies involving chemicals and clinical trials associated with them. I may not be a part of the industry, but I've got quite a good understanding of what's toxic and what isn't.

Way to take me completely out of context and accentuate everything negative that you perceived.

What I'm saying is that they (doctors and pharmaceuticals) are giving both women AND men more excuses to be lazy with these long-acting contraceptives, with complete disregard for possible exposure to toxins potential complications from procedures that could be more damaging to one's health.

Not to mention that these involve expensive procedures that are neither guaranteed to succeed, nor leave you intact. What I hate more is that it seems like they're sugar coating the study. "It's a safe* contraceptive method with non-toxic* chemicals!(*see brochure full medical and legal details)" This goes for all contraceptives in the testing phase, male, female, unisex, hermaphrodite.

I'm well aware of the side effects of taking the pill, let alone any kind of pill. I didn't say that -all- women did that, nor did I say that women should be placed at fault for such. Side effects are side effects, and I respect the decision to not take it if you don't want them. PS; I never even said that it's the woman's responsibility alone to deal with contraception. If I recall, packing condoms and using them are 100% the man's responsibility.

I mean, if I'm ever in a relationship and my (probably unfortunate, because I'm me) girlfriend tells me that she's not on the pill and doesn't want to take it, I'll try to be as responsible as I can for both of us. That's not to say I won't be responsible if she is taking the pill, I still would be. BECAUSE I CARE.

And I never singled out women either, wow where did you get that? Why do you constantly like twisting someone's words into something you can argue about? It vexes me.

Your parents being doctors does not innately make you a reliable source of insight.

Now, I'd love to hear how I took your words out of context or "twisted" them, but that would require you to actually have used them in a different context.

For someone who claims to have gained such vast knowledge just by having doctors as parents, you sure don't seem to have any insight into what a clinical trial is. Testing has already indicated that, yes, the method is guaranteed to succeed AND leave you intact. God, it's like you didn't even read the article.
Other issues, like "possible exposure to toxins potential complications from procedures", are the entire reason the clinical trial exists, and, based on those trials so far, this method appears to be safe.
Keep in mind that people who are actually qualified to do such research are performing and reviewing these trials, and that makes them better judges on this than you and your parents.

Of course, claiming that wanting a safer, more cost-effective contraceptive makes someone "lazy" pretty much ensured that your opinion was lacking in perspective in the first place.
Not that that should be surprising sense, as a virgin, you don't have any real personal experience to add to the discussion. It is, after all, so much easier to tell people what they should be doing when you don't have to do it yourself.
Here's some perspective though:
Claiming this might-be-innovation that could revolutionize contraceptive only serves to make people lazy makes you look about as crazy as those who might have shouted that the computer or the car were terrible creations.
