Have you ever illegally downloaded a music file?
Yes.
If so then when did you start downloading music illegally? And how? (napster, limewire, various other ways)?
Late middle school or early high school. Anywhere from age 12-14 I guess. I used random search engines and Kazaa

0 per month, 0 per year.
Roughly how many different artists were featured in your collection, how many different genres?
Didn't listen to music much at all aside from whatever my family put on the radio.

How many albums or songs are you/have you been downloading illegally, on average, per month?
Very very rarely, less than 1 per month on average, if even that much.
How many albums or songs are you buying/have bought, and if so why do you choose to buy them when you can simply download them for free?
5+ albums, can't count the amount of songs but well over a few dozen. I enjoy supporting the artists I like. I only (rarely) DL the songs that aren't possible to buy in stores/iTunes.
Roughly how many different artists are featured in your collection, how many different genres?
At least 4 artists, at least 4 genres. Emphasis on at least, difficult to count em all.
How often do you go to concerts?
Pretty much never, but lately I've been keeping my eye open to attend one of the concerts from artists/bands I like.
Would you say you listen to music more now than you did before illegal downloads?
Yes, by a longshot.
How acceptable is piracy to you?
It's not too bad, although things like iTunes made it less necessary to do so. Still, most of the music I listen to today started off from when I downloaded their music illegally, so in some ways it can be helpful.
Why do you believe piracy is not seen as stealing by many people?
Some people believe they deserve the free music, others want to listen to the music before making an official purchase, and other related reasons.
Do you think piracy has, in anyway, changed the music industry for the better?
Given I wouldn't have been buying music much at all without it, and possibly iTunes was one way to divert piracy, then yes I believe it has, or it's not as bad as some people may imply.
