Have you ever illegally downloaded a music file?
Yes
If so then when did you start downloading music illegally? And how? (napster, limewire, various other ways)?
I think I started with napster, but wasn't really a big downloader until limewire.

How many albums or songs are you buying/have bought, and if so why do you choose to buy them when you can simply download them for free?
Too many. Probably around 100+ albums hardcopy and digital
Roughly how many different artists are featured in your collection, how many different genres?
Sideways 8. It's ever growing.
How often do you go to concerts?
I've gone to two in the last two years.
Would you say you listen to music more now than you did before illegal downloads?
1000x more music. I listen to music for like 2/3 a day.

How acceptable is piracy to you?
Very.
Why do you believe piracy is not seen as stealing by many people?
Because you don't really see the people that you are stealing from, you just think that it is free music, everyone loves music.
Do you think piracy has, in anyway, changed the music industry for the better?Very much so for the better. I wouldn't say piracy has changed the music industry for the better, I would say that free music whether it be provided or pirated has changed the music industry for the better. There are plenty of people who become successful from giving their songs away for free. If someone likes your music, they will attend your shows, and will in turn tell their friends about it. And when you do in turn find a time that you feel like your fanbase is loyal, you can go ahead and sell your music and people will buy it.
PS>For example, Pretty Lights, an electronic artist has been giving his music away for free for years. Of course he has merch and box sets of his CDs, but he has grown so much. He now has his own record label which has 5-6 artists on it that give out their music for free also, but he was also just featured on the new Tron: Reloaded sountrack. Now for someone to say free music and piracy is killing the hopes and dreams of artists is false, because you just have to know how to build a fanbase, and more importantly, do what you love, isn't that what music is all about in the end?
