So, I actually took the time to go back and look at the prompt for the project my friend and I collaborated on, and there was no mention of not working in a team. Knowing this, we went to our professor after our final and talked to him about it. He was all like, "I'm only going to take the points off and not make you guys get talked to by the dean about plagiarism and cheating and etc." I was pretty mad at him for even considering to refer us. We told him our story, along with not working together clause in the prompt. He said that just because it isn't, we can't assume. He mentioned that just because it doesn't say don't kill people, you can't assume you can. I was thinking in my head, "Yeah, there ARE rules like that." He continued that professors would explicitly state you can work with friends on anything, if you could. So, we got nothing in return except a haughty professor that blamed it on our lack of understanding.
Go figure. Oh, I just checked my final exam grade, perfect 100% which saves my grade average
