And Ifrit's range is pretty pitiful, I think you can hit with CL twice as far with ifrit, so for it to do any damage you need to get right up next to the boss.

It's range is about as far as the distance you teleport. What you do is walk up next to a boss, cast it then step back lol. If you like to solo pap or other bosses, level 6+ ifrit is nice to have. Else, it's terrible.
