Ultimate plan to stop the inflation
#41
Satellite Wrote:Uhh, actually that was one of the suggestions in my first post;

You did however leave out temporarily turning the NPC value of all items to 0, since botters could still farm for equips and sell them in bulk to shops for mesos.

If you want money to sink out of the economy you'd have to pretty much negate all means of it entering.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

Dynamic NPC shop / quest / magic seed / job advance prices based on the amount of mesos in existence. The more mesos there are, the higher the NPC prices are. This way the same amount of mesos is sinked as generated.

This wouldn't work - it's a huge kick in the ass to poor/new players while overly rich players/hackers wouldn't be all that affected.

It is however how a true economy works. Inflation scales.

I honestly can't think of anything that wouldn't have a huge problem with new players. I'd just take mesos out of the game for a couple of months and say fu`ck it lol

Equipment is already OVERPRICED, who the hell wants to pay 200k for a lvl 40~50 equipment? For 200k you can just do Monster Park and get lots of pot'd lvl 70+ equipment

If they REDUCED (a lot) the equipment prices, people would actually start buying them for fusing. Yeah, it's only 2nd tier potential, but it's better than nothing, isn't it?

People would start using scrolls and WGs as currency. Poor players would get poorer, rich merchants and dupers wouldn't feel any difference.

Good, now GM scrolls dupers don't need the MTS to get cubes anymore!

Anyways, this might help fixing the economy; but it will permanently break the game even more.

On the other hand, "legit" WS/pink scrolls merchants would be completely pineappleed up. Screwing up merchants, I like it Biggrin

I don't see how this would help. Monsters meso drop is already VERY low, most players don't loot it at all. It would just annoy weaker and poor players without affecting rich bastard merchants at all.

Nexon would NEVER do that. And it would give hackers a VERY, VERY large opportunity for a NX exploit. Or hackers would just find a small meso exploit and secretly use it to buy infinite amounts of NX.

-0- -0- -0- -0-

Personally (and many people are going to hate my ideas), if we want to really fix the GMS' economy:

-Shut down the goddamn MTS. Real money (NX) shouldn't be used to buy in game items (meso). If you want NX, you pay for it. If you want meso, you play for it.

-Ban/fix dupers. 'nuff said.

-Remove the anti-botting system. Seriously, botters can just kill their characters and keep them any level they want. Botters get a loads of good recipies and equipment while legit players have to buy from them for x5 their pre-anti-botting system value. Nice try, Nexon Tongue

-Make fusing a decent alternative for cubing. It doesn't need to be as good as cubes, but it would be nice if people who DON'T want to buy NX to have a chance of getting some decent potential on items. This would help decreased pot'd items prices, without hurting people with godly pot'd equipment.

-Remove junk scrolls from the game ("10% Scroll for 1h BW for accuracy"? Do we even NEED accuracy at all?), greatly increase scrolls drop rate and make all kinds of non-event and non-boss scrolls (60%, 10%, potential, EE and chaos) drop from all mobs, higher level mobs would have a greater drop rate than lower level ones. OK, it won't help to fix the "godly equipment" market, but it would help to fix lower level market, and it might control Wattk WGs prices. If we can't fix the market for the godly players, let's give noobs and newbies a chance of at least feel how it is to scroll a weapon without using 100% blue scrolls Eek

I defiantly with the scrolls. anything with weapon accuracy. more over any scroll that adds +acc should just be removed. as a warrior i have like 1k+ acc. no idea how i got it but i do. accuracy servers no purpose anymore. They just wast excitement when you see them drop. The only way i think they should keep them is if they change it to +% accurate/hit rate.

And about fusing. i think the current way is fine but they need to make it so that its easier to mass a lot equipment to fuse. Like someone mentioned before. if they decrease the meso price of the lvl 35~40 equipment people would waste more money on fusing them because it DOES take a while to get a epic %stat or a double rare % stat of the same type.

Now for the botters. im completely disagree with you on this one unless Nexon COMPLETELY changes the drop system of recipes and scrolls. They would have to not only have increase the drop rate of scrolls/recipes but also increase which mobs drop which scrolls/recipes. mainly target toward recipes though. Like the lvl 110 1h sword, the carabella, drops only from like dark yeti's or something. I feel like if they made zakum (or some readily kill able boss that isn't glitch) like 100% lvl 110 recipes (not all at once but some) and 60% scrolls( not all at once but some) ON EACH KILL. Then i could say botter's can go to hell. but now they do too much POSITIVE to the market. I feel if they actually find a way to stop the botters. 95% of the population who's highest level is 120~130ish or below would quit.

Why?
Lack of items. no Botters means no PoT, Scrolls (EE and some potential) as well as some other's you see in vast quantity would go out, those shops with a shyt load of recipes u like? gone.

And what does this mean for the high level community?
It means they can inflate the market even more....

So taking out botter's is bad. and dupers WHO DUPE SCROLLS ONLY. Dupers who dupe items or mesos are bad bad people. (though im not sure of the effect of the meso duping so i shouldn't say that is bad...yet)

Some people dont seem to realize but the ms market works like this:

People create mesos(through NPC and pick up)->this creates currency {positive}
People bring items to sell(through mobs and professions) -> this creates reason for currency {positive}
People merchant some of those items (does nothing but move around item/meso) -> this only creates inflation with the benefit only being the person doing {very negative for the market}

So if you want inflation to go down you should cut down on merchanting.

Oh and almost forgot. about MTS. I also thing they should take it out. even though it is the only way servers can connect to other servers. It is the number 2 cause of inflation (with merchanter's being #1). but honnestly now nexon cant take it out, simplely because this game isn't actually free to play. you need % stat items. sure you can buy them but normally u spend more NX on cubes than that item can ever be sold for in mesos. So taking out MTS will cause alot of people to quit.

So in conclusion feel as if nexon isn't doing anything because there is a chance if they shift something it will 1) cause a large mass to quit because of the new market or 2) they will lose a shyt ton of money (like cubes for mesos). So they only keep on adding things that keep their current linear progression. which is why they arent increasing scroll drops as that has no visual positive effect to them. and its not like we are slowing down the rate at which we buy NX. Because we complain but at the end of the day we still support their game.

As long as vast majority of the players have less mesos, FM prices would drop because no one would have enough meso to buy. Yes it does make poor people poorer and rich people richer but it will keep prices down.

actually, merchanting is a source of "pay" for the merchanters to improve their own characters... look around for mispriced or cheap items, take advantage. they arent causing inflation. theyre just trying to take advantage of the situation. theyre fine. the real problem is people who havent worked for what they have, the botters. theyll buy whatever the merchanter sells because its the first one they came across and they dont care about how much something costs, even if its slightly overpriced. thats what causes inflation. if no one were willing to buy an overpriced item, the merchanter would be forced to lower his price in order to make back his investment.

Except for the fact that the merchanter knowing over prices the item to make money. I know its how they get their pay but that doesn't mean they arent degrading the system/ Inflating everything to do so. I myself am not a botter (though i like them) but if i see i item i really want. Even if its over priced I will buy it just because I want it. Am i causing inflation? Probably but the seller who over priced it is more at fault for doing so in the first place. And besides that even botters do cause inflation they also contrubite (greatly) to the overall quality of the free market. Which is something that cannot in anyway be said about merchants.

They could at least add lvl 70~80 equipment to NPCs at a decent price. Sneakers sell for 15k and people already burn millions of meso making them. Also, add a 100% chance of getting potential equipment from fusing if at least one of the ingredients had potential would be really nice.

valhala556 Wrote:Now for the botters.

I actually didn't say anything about botters. I said they should fix the retarded new EXP/drop rate system (if your level is higher than the monster, your EXP/Drop rate is reduced).

valhala556 Wrote:im completely disagree with you on this one unless Nexon COMPLETELY changes the drop system of recipes and scrolls.

That's actually my last proposal. I guess they could do something similar to recipes too. Anyways, they REALLY need to make scrolls and recipes easier to obtain, allow players to actually be able to drop their own scrolls instead of buying them all.

valhala556 Wrote:and dupers WHO DUPE SCROLLS ONLY. Dupers who dupe items or mesos are bad bad people. (though im not sure of the effect of the meso duping so i shouldn't say that is bad...yet)

Actually, dupers are breaking the game, not the economy. Most of GMS community are spoiled greedy brats who believe that having infinite GM scrolls is actually normal and that damage = fun. Dupers are turning rich players into damage whores who spend thousands of NX making their characters OP as hell and then go to lolbasil to whine about how the game is too easy or how OP Demon Slayers are.

Botters supply the economy with hard to obtain items, but at a decent speed. They can't make 1000 GM scrolls appear out of NOWHERE in a matter of seconds. And until we get a decent scroll/recipe drop system, I'm fine with botters.

valhala556 Wrote:So if you want inflation to go down you should cut down on merchanting.

That would be my dream. MMORPG merchants act just like scammers, but they're seen as "legit" and they're tactic is slower. Seriously, offering 10m for a GFA 60% when it's worth 22m (and sells for ~25m on FM 1 - seriously, who are the morons who shop at FM 1?) is a scam, you taking advantage that other players don't know the prices very well, don't have NX to buy mushie shops and don't use BOTS to spam "B> Scrolls, B> Chairs, B>..." for freaking 5 hours.

They could completely deactivate the FM and create a meso version of MTS. It would be much easier for poorer/NXless players to buy and sell items while it would be much harder for merchants to ruin the economy (merchanting would actually take skill). Of course, Nexon would lose a lot of money they get from shop permits/mushie shops/whatever, but they could find/create alternatives for that (Nexon is specialist in money-making, anyways).

valhala556 Wrote:but honnestly now nexon cant take it out, simplely because this game isn't actually free to play. you need % stat items. sure you can buy them but normally u spend more NX on cubes than that item can ever be sold for in mesos. So taking out MTS will cause alot of people to quit.

A lot of people I don't want in the game, mostly damage whores/NX whores who don't know how to enjoy the game. You don't NEED cubes, or don't need to be able to solo Zakum in 36 seconds. What's the point of fighting a boss you can solo 36 in seconds? What's the point of speding 1000+$ just to become "godly" on a non-serious MMORPG like Maplestory?

Playing this game without massive amounts of NX - playing this game as a F2P instead of P2W (pay-to-win) - is far more enjoyable. And we should thank Nexon for giving us plenty of events and items, it makes easier for low-funded players to keep going on.

Lol ok i must be ignornt cuz i didnt notice we have the same kinda views on some points. But i Think you misunderstood me or i miss communicated. What i ment by NEEDing cubes is not liek solo zakum in under a minute. but more like take down PB/Empress or HT with a party of like 3~6. or every duo. I understand that some bosses shouldnt be solo but at the same time we dont need like 12~30ppl expeditions to be capable of actually killing a boss. Sure its END GAME but the only END GAME thing about is is how much damage/sec is being dished out. honnestly like i am happy with a 20k selfbuffed range.(with attack pots) though that is kinda high and i am nowhere near that now. its not like rediculous though i think it is higher than normal.

Damage =/= fun. but it can influence it. Like bossing solo bossing for over an hour is a bit redundant expectantly if its the same boss throughout(like no phases). (ive done this a few times back in the day. solo panius anyone?)

Yeah chaos, unfortunately all the new bosses are built around the damage cubes provide, so it is a need rather than a want.

I guess cubes are rather and pseudo-need than a want after all (sadly). However, I wonder how long Nexon can keep this business going: Cubes might be attractive for already funded high level maplers, who already got past the grinding/funding part of the game and got good gear to cube, but not for new maplers. Hell, why would a newbie spend money on a game with a broken economy, no security and, to makes things even worse, it's more expensive to play than most P2P MMORPGs?

Nexon is going to drown in their own greed Tongue

No, it wasn't.

My implementation would be that all monsters stop dropping mesos and it wouldn't be temporary.
A temporary halt achieves nothing and does not at all prevent farming in the future.
Similarly, botters would have no problem farming on low-level monsters if that meant the best profit.

They could still bot for ETC drops and armor drops in my scenario, but the idea isn't to completely stop inflation.
As IceCorp pointed out, that's impossible.
However, cutting off what is possibly the biggest contributor to meso generation would have a lasting impact on the speed of inflation.

if an item is overpriced and you buy it, you just caused inflation

that kind of inflation can be really bad in a game like this where a lot of people are immature -- by which i simply mean inexperienced at life, because they are only teens. they WILL just buy something, because they dont have the patience to either make a more reasonable offer or keep looking for another deal and the free market as it is isnt conducive to patience as its frustrating to look through 1000 shops never seeing what youre looking for, struggle with ridiculous lag every ~30 shops, and (a new one!) you cant use your mobility skills to at least improve your looking to moving ratio.

i agree that merchants are bottom feeders, but botters really are a main problem source whether any side effects they have are beneficial or not. dont blame the bottom feeders for picking up scraps and digging through trash.

You talk about merchants being bottom feeds but i forgot to mention when i posted:
Quote:People create mesos(through NPC and pick up)->this creates currency {positive}
People bring items to sell(through mobs and professions) -> this creates reason for currency {positive}
People merchant some of those items (does nothing but move around item/meso) -> this only creates inflation with the benefit only being the person doing {very negative for the market}

That the amount of profit they yield works in reverse order. as in merchants make the MOST while the ppl who create the actual currency to be used make the LEAST. so they are in no way bottom feeders. and "digger through the trash". they are infact the richest group of people in ms. and you know it so dont make them seem less than they are. (i figure you are one)

And
Quote:if an item is overpriced and you buy it, you just caused inflation

that kind of inflation can be really bad in a game like this where a lot of people are immature -- by which i simply mean inexperienced at life, because they are only teens. they WILL just buy something, because they dont have the patience to either make a more reasonable offer or keep looking for another deal and the free market as it is isnt conducive to patience as its frustrating to look through 1000 shops never seeing what youre looking for, struggle with ridiculous lag every ~30 shops, and (a new one!) you cant use your mobility skills to at least improve your looking to moving ratio.

Buy something because they want and need it. I dont know about you, but to me MS is a game. As it being a game there are aspects i liek and ones i dont. I DONT like FM. why i dont like it? merchants if u havent guessed already. that and its a waste of time. so ive gotten used to it and instead of doing what you talk about. and be patient and buy when its a fair price would make the game less fun for me. SO what do i do? I get my meso's by being a supplier and creater as i mented before. and when i find an item i like i buy it. Sure if ive seen cheaper ones before i might look around. But if its like say a weapon i really want. and i mean ive been thinking about getting this item. and i have the mesos for it and i see it in fm for liek 500mil. but all the prices ive heard about are liek 300mil. ill most likely still get it. why because i can afford it. there are no bills in MS. no minimum amount of mesos needed to be in ur account. so why save them?

I'm impatient, so I do the same, I buy things that are convenient, not necessarily the things that are at the lowest price, so it's probably hypocritical that I get on your case about this, but you realize that you're contributing to inflation, right? If you buy the 500m one, the sellers with the 300m ones will see that they can sell their stuff for 500m, so why would they sell it for 300m? And then people who come after you will be forced to pay 500m, and the cycle continues with the item getting more and more expensive.

I'm not really sure about what I'm saying, I'm no expert in this field, but it's not necessarily greed that causes inflation, in Maple, I mean, it's more likely impatience. It's not about saving mesos and hoarding them, it's about waiting with your mesos. If more items sold for less, the price will begin to drop, slowly but surely, as people undercut each other to make a sale, and inversely, if more of these items sold for more, then people are more likely try to sell for an increased price and be a bit more patient. If you just go out and buy whatever you want, for whatever price, that's gonna have a pretty big effect on the price of the item.
