Ultimate plan to stop the inflation - Satellite - 2011-10-05 - Double the prices of ALL NPC items. Includes potions, npc equips what so ever. - Double ALL the fees in use. - Create a temporary NPC selling: mystery cubes for price of 80mils each premium cubes for price of 180mils each white scrolls for price of 150mils each 50% scrolls for price of 250mils each a gachapon box that has a chance to give really good rewards (GM scrolls and 140lvl gear, maybe a really low chance for GODLY pre-scrolled items): 500mils each All Above will be untradeable to prevent abuse. - Completely remove the meso drops from monsters above level 30 temporarily. Low level meso drops shall stay just to save the lifes of people who start on a new servers/are completely new to MS - Create an NPC that let's you convert mesos to NX, with the current NX:meso rate (I think it's 1:60 at least in Yellonde) Any other ideas? Ultimate plan to stop the inflation - Daimean - 2011-10-05 Another event in the form of a meso sink would be nice, or an event with a 100% chance of stealing from anyone that participates 500mill+ Ultimate plan to stop the inflation - Takebacker - 2011-10-05 Everyone is just going to hoard as much meso as possible for when the changes are undone. Ultimate plan to stop the inflation - Corn - 2011-10-05 Create a new better mount that costs a lot more. That seems to be the best meso sinker anyways .
Ultimate plan to stop the inflation - Foxino - 2011-10-05 I like the idea but it seems beyond nexons creativity and yet again botters/hackers will win from this cause of all the hoarded mesos. I'd much perfer Nexon to just reset all mesos in the game that + the fucked up anti bot system should fix things for a while. Ultimate plan to stop the inflation - ShinkuDragon - 2011-10-05 hire gm's ban botters. cut the source, and the dam runs dry. Ultimate plan to stop the inflation - Phoenix Wright - 2011-10-05 ShinkuDragon Wrote:hire gm's This is the best solution one could ever come up with. Too bad Nexon won't do it. Ultimate plan to stop the inflation - I0ny - 2011-10-05 IMO this newest solution to fix it was the most awesome so far, blocking ppl from trading with each other... Ultimate plan to stop the inflation - ElderTree - 2011-10-05 Let's see here: 1) Who buys equips from NPCs aside from maybe level 30- gear? Raising the potion costs would hurt unfunded characters much more than the super rich. 2) Once again, flat fees only hurt the poor more than the rich. Even if you double all of the tax rates (which increase as you go up in item value), you'll just find the rich using items for currency (Whites / Pinks, 10 atk WGs, etc.) more often to minimize the taxes. 4) Lol. By the time a char is level 30, they have at most what... 100k? 200k? This stings especially hard for new players (customers), and would discourage them from continuing. Besides, meso drops aren't exactly the main source of the inflation in the first place. That title goes to dupers (that dupe chars with max mesos on them). 5) And who exactly would you trust to determine the ratio? Nexon? With their 5k NX Gold Meso Sacks that give you 10 mil? (I forget exactly how terrible it was. I'm talking about the most recent version of the sacks that didn't even promise "the chance to get 100 Trollilian mesos"). #3 is the only one I think could have a positive impact. But to be honest, I'd rather see a meso sink for something new that: a) Isn't already the result of mass-duping, and b) Can't be purchased in the CS -- because Meso:NX rates vary so much from server to server. Price a CS item for too few mesos and you just have people jumping to meso sellers (thus giving hackers more $$$ IRL), and price it too high and people will just buy the CS version (and thus not being an effective meso sink). Offering something like cubes & generic scrolls (whites/pinks) could actually encourage the dupers to work harder since now they would have more potential customers, or could profit off of it themselves (Dupe mesos -> Purchase scrolls/cubes -> Self-Scroll/Cube a good weapon -> Dupe the end result -> Sell the dupes). The only way to stop inflation is to 100% stop the dupers (and botters). And that's not happening any time soon. Includes potions, npc equips what so ever. You can make a pomegranateload of potions with Alchemy anyways. Equipment is already OVERPRICED, who the hell wants to pay 200k for a lvl 40~50 equipment? For 200k you can just do Monster Park and get lots of pot'd lvl 70+ equipment If they REDUCED (a lot) the equipment prices, people would actually start buying them for fusing. Yeah, it's only 2nd tier potential, but it's better than nothing, isn't it? Satellite Wrote:- Double ALL the fees in use. People would start using scrolls and WGs as currency. Poor players would get poorer, rich merchants and dupers wouldn't feel any difference. Satellite Wrote:- Create a temporary NPC selling: Good, now GM scrolls dupers don't need the MTS to get cubes anymore! Anyways, this might help fixing the economy; but it will permanently break the game even more. On the other hand, "legit" WS/pink scrolls merchants would be completely pineappleed up. Screwing up merchants, I like it Satellite Wrote:- Completely remove the meso drops from monsters above level 30 temporarily. I don't see how this would help. Monsters meso drop is already VERY low, most players don't loot it at all. It would just annoy weaker and poor players without affecting rich bastard merchants at all. Satellite Wrote:- Create an NPC that let's you convert mesos to NX, with the current NX:meso rate (I think it's 1:60 at least in Yellonde) Nexon would NEVER do that. And it would give hackers a VERY, VERY large opportunity for a NX exploit. Or hackers would just find a small meso exploit and secretly use it to buy infinite amounts of NX. -0- -0- -0- -0- Personally (and many people are going to hate my ideas), if we want to really fix the GMS' economy: -Shut down the goddamn MTS. Real money (NX) shouldn't be used to buy in game items (meso). If you want NX, you pay for it. If you want meso, you play for it. -Ban/fix dupers. 'nuff said. -Remove the anti-botting system. Seriously, botters can just kill their characters and keep them any level they want. Botters get a loads of good recipies and equipment while legit players have to buy from them for x5 their pre-anti-botting system value. Nice try, Nexon ![]() -Make fusing a decent alternative for cubing. It doesn't need to be as good as cubes, but it would be nice if people who DON'T want to buy NX to have a chance of getting some decent potential on items. This would help decreased pot'd items prices, without hurting people with godly pot'd equipment. -Remove junk scrolls from the game ("10% Scroll for 1h BW for accuracy"? Do we even NEED accuracy at all?), greatly increase scrolls drop rate and make all kinds of non-event and non-boss scrolls (60%, 10%, potential, EE and chaos) drop from all mobs, higher level mobs would have a greater drop rate than lower level ones. OK, it won't help to fix the "godly equipment" market, but it would help to fix lower level market, and it might control Wattk WGs prices. If we can't fix the market for the godly players, let's give noobs and newbies a chance of at least feel how it is to scroll a weapon without using 100% blue scrolls
Ultimate plan to stop the inflation - Stuthedog - 2011-10-05 Scratch that I misunderstood what you were suggesting. Your suggestions are good, meso sinks are the only thing that will help the rapid inflation. Or, you know, we could just lower unemployment
Ultimate plan to stop the inflation - Alilatias - 2011-10-05 Satellite Wrote:- Create a temporary NPC selling: This is the only part that I'm interested in, because all of the others had already been explained to only harm legits far more than the hackers and merchants responsible for the inflation in the first place. Even then, I'd modify it. A lot. First of all, I'd change the items to be completely new items (that way Nexon wouldn't have an excuse to not put this in purely on the basis of losing profit from cubes). There would be a wide variety of items that would hopefully encourage every kind of mapler to use it in some way. All of these items, as already suggested, should be untradeable (and it shouldn't be hard to keep them permanently untradeable on the basis of all of these items being new items). Second of all, it'd require a new form of currency in order to obtain these new items. Said currency could require meso or NX to obtain, but once you convert the meso or NX to that type of currency, there would be no way to reverse the process. This new currency also cannot be traded between players. Likewise, once you purchase the new shop items with the new currency, there would be no way to sell the items back for 'coins' (random name for the new currency) as well. This is what the conversion rate for the theoretical new shop would probably look like: - 1,000,000 meso = 1 coin - 10,000,000 meso = 12 coins - 50,000,000 meso = 60 coins - 100,000,000 meso = 130 coins - 3,000 NX = 100 coins - 6,000 NX = 250 coins - 10,000 NX = 600 coins (Don't mind the NX-to-coin ratio in comparison to the meso-to-coin ratio, as I have almost no idea what the ratio is like in Windia anymore, given the insanity of the past few months. It's besides the point anyways.) I'd imagine that if Nexon were to go through with something like this, they would intentionally make the NX tickets give out far more coins than the meso conversion. In that case, in order for this to really work without the economy being whipped into even more inflation/hackers hacking even more to take advantage of this, they'd have to get rid of the MTS, and give us the KMS cash shop trading room. This is what my theoretical shop would look like. (Note that, again, everything in here is permanently untradeable. Also, all scrolls in this shop are only usable with the equipment in this shop): Equipment: - Permanent +5% STR, DEX, INT, -or- LUK badge: 100 coins - Permanent +20% HP and MP badge: 100 coins - Level 110 armor: 5 coins - Level 120 armor: 25 coins - Level 130 armor: 50 coins - Level 140 armor: 100 coins - Level 110 weapons: 20 coins - Level 120 weapons: 100 coins - Level 130 weapons: 200 coins - Level 140 weapons: 400 coins (The 140 equips are not the same as the Cygnus equipment. These new equips would probably have like 8 stat less/5 attack less than the Cygnus equipment and won't have the set bonus, so defeating Cygnus would still have some worth, if the whole 'new equips are completely untradeable' thing wasn't enough.) Stat Scrolls: - 50% Special Armor Stat Scrolls: 15 coins (+3 stat) - 50% Special Accessory Stat Scrolls: 25 coins (+3 stat) - 50% Special Weapon Attack Scroll: 40 coins (+5 Weapon Attack) - 50% Special Magic Attack Scroll: 40 coins (+5 Magic Attack) - 50% +3 Special Armor Stat Scrolls: 35 coins (+9 stat, requires 3 or more remaining upgrade slots, and will consume those slots) - 50% +3 Special Accessory Stat Scrolls: 60 coins (+9 stat, requires 3 or more remaining upgrade slots, and will consume those slots) - 50% +3 Special Weapon Attack Scroll: 100 coins (+15 Weapon Attack, requires 3 or more remaining upgrade slots, and will consume those slots) - 50% +3 Special Magic Attack Scroll: 100 coins (+15 Magic Attack, requires 3 or more remaining upgrade slots, and will consume those slots) Misc. Scrolls: - Special White Scroll: 50 coins - 100% Special Chaos Scroll: 50 coins - 100% Rare Potential Scroll: 50 coins - 100% Epic Potential Scroll: 300 coins - 100% Unique Potential Scroll: 700 coins Misc. USE Items: - 5 slot Ammo Case (limit of 2 per character): 10 coins (stores stars, bullets, and arrows) - 5 slot Restorative Potion Satchel (limit of 2 per character): 50 coins - 5 slot Scroll Pouch (limit of 2 per character): 50 coins - Archer/Mage/Thief/Warrior/Pirate-specific Mystery Books: 15 coins (includes Maple Warrior books) I'd hope that something like this would make for an effective meso sink along with higher-end equipment deflating slightly, without the entire economy crashing into a state where hackers get to hoard like hell and benefit at the expense of the entire economy in the long run. Ultimate plan to stop the inflation - Devil - 2011-10-05 Making potions more expensive is stupid and will make all non-NX players quit maple in a few months... Better: Put bot detectors in ALL maps with monsters (no towns, etc). -> If bot detector message, players will have godmode but can't move or do anything else. -> No autobanning on fail, just teleport players back into town in that town they have to do two simple - but impossible for botters - jumpquests. Jumpquest rooms are randomly chosen out of 10 different ones. -> If caught once, instead of hourly bot checks, 1 hour long every 10minutes bot checks. -> The longer the account excists + the more (lvl 70+) chars on the account, the fewer the bot checks. -> For players (read: real beginners) who have less then 1m mesos and are lvl30 or below, botchecks are disabled. Then again, I'm of the mindset that more people would be willing to spend their money on cubes if epic/unique equips were far more easier to obtain in the first place. Blades4hire Wrote:Add a zero to those prices, and it sounds like a good ideaHuh? Assuming I get what you're trying to say, I don't think adding an additional zero to the meso conversion or the coin cost would be a good idea. The point of a meso sink is to not only sink the meso from the super rich, but from as many people as possible. Make this thing too expensive and it shuts out everyone on the low/middle spectrum, along with the richest people probably not bothering with this. Come to think of it, how did JMS tackle their inflation problem, anyways? I remember hearing about Neo Tokyo's equipment requiring like 500 mil to forge back when it was first released, but was it really that effective, JMSers? A lot of people in my alliance (myself included) won't touch Jesters or MP3 because of all the crowding. |
