Running 2 instances of maplestory at once

hey what edition of VMWare are you using? I am planning to do too

Workstation 6.5-7.x, Windows XP Professional.

For clarification, I was talking about editing the registry to make sure it has your video card on it and the vmware file to appropriate settings.

VMWare Workstation costs $200 to obtain, probably better to get a netbook. Better investment, smoother(probably) and separate keyboard/screen.

I've never tried running MS, but VirtualBox is a free VM software you could try.

Let me rephrase that. It freezes, disconnects without warning, locks up in laggy areas (towns, training areas, etc), unless you can give it like 3gb+ of memory, then it should be fine. I gave mine 2gb and it's not very stable. I'm able to use it to afk a char as a mule in a low-populated area, but not able to use it to provide buffs or travel around areas without massive lag and/or disconnects.

What? I gave my VMplayer 1GB of RAM and it works fine, I even use it to provide HS/HB in bosses, I don't dc much on VM except I got hack detected every 5~6 hours. Lags are there, bearable though.

idk, maybe it's just because I use an older version. I don't use it for anything more than transferring and logging on alts to get filler mules for whatever expedition I'm setting up at the time, mainly Zak, because I have a mule plopped at the altar that I use to get me in a second time so it's fine with me.

Or you can use Wine and run it without your graphics card. This is laggier though, but has no chance of accidentally frying your graphics card.

VMWare without hardware acceleration used to give me better performance than my netbook, unfortunately I think the software directX doesn't work anymore? I didn't have to do anything tricky to get it running back then, but now it probably knows what the VMWare driver looks like and shuts it down.

Ultimately the image was taking up too much HD space and I deleted it, though. MS alone is one thing but installing/patching it within a virtual HD means you need 4-6x the space it takes for windows, the horrible inefficiency of the patcher, etc..

When I got a new desktop, I left the old one bootable, it's 6 years old and runs MS fine. Bit of a power suck so I only turn it on to trade or do HS type things.

Do what I do, get junk comps off people/or friends throwing their old comps out, fix it up and hook it up to a kvm. I'm using 2 intel pentium 4 computers which are completely free, Heck the 2 port kvm I got was free too. I got about 6 other desktops at home that I can use with just old processors like pentium 4. I'm currently using 2 desktops atm, one using 4 gb ram and 80 gb HDD and another one 2.5gb of ram and 40 gb HDD, didn't cost me a penny <<<cheap.

Setting up a vm for maple really isn't all that difficult for an average user. The only difficult part is the workaround for maple explained in the thread. I can run 2 vms + reg maple (all with W7) with only 4gb of ram though I usually only use 1 vm since 2 stretches my ram pretty tight.
