This is for incoming Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors wanting to take these classes.

How many AP courses did you apply/get into? Post away

Me: incoming sophomore, applied to 4 AP classes, got into all 4. Junior year course selection completed!

- AP English 3 (will explain further if needed since this is a fairly new class)
- AP Chemistry
- AP Calculus AB
- AP U.S History (popularly know as APUSH)

Wouldve applied to 2-3 more for backup purposes, but meh, I'm sastified.

I'm taking the same four as you (junior year), except Statistics instead of AB.

We have open enrollment, which is good and bad. Good- we get to sign up for as many as we want. Bad- a lot of idiots sign up for the classes and are now failing.

As for me, took 7 classes and ending up with 6 tests. I didn't want to take the AP Government test.

They don't pay for our AP tests because our area is "too rich"/our district is broke, but I'm dirt poor. Oh well.

I took 12 AP courses throughout high school and got a 5 on all tests. You are ahead of me in course work, though, as I took the ones you mentioned in junior or senior year. (Partly due to prerequisites... we had to take honors chem before AP, for example, and we couldn't skip English courses.) Oh well, no sense in rushing. Real world ftl~

Same reason I'm taking four years to graduate college, even though I had enough AP credits/extra classes taken to graduate in 2.5 years. =P Maybe 3, because of so many prerequisites in my major...

wtp? I had to pay a frikkin $100 a subject and the test is being administered at a community center. We don't even get transportation.

They really aren't too hard - they each contain low, medium, and high difficulty questions, with less of the higher difficulty ones (these are the ones, however, that seperate 3's from 4's, 4's from 5's. You can pass pretty easily without getting them right. A friend even took a course he knew nothing about and got a 4). Your scores are weighted based on a curve. So, the more people that test that don't know much of the material, the better off you are. However, this means that a certain percentage is guaranteed to fail as well...

(This means that forced testing/paid testing heavily benefits those that actually know the material AND want to take the test)

If I had actually studied, I probably would've seen a lot more 4's and 5's

My advice - study. I didn't, but I tend to be a brilliant test taker, so I got away with it. If you struggle with tests, study ftw.

Well, this year I'm taking AP Euro History. Junior year I'm taking AP English, AP US History, AP chem, all the ones that are offered. AP chem at my school is amazing, all the kids in the class always get 5s.

Didn't have to apply to any, but most APs in my school needed a teacher recommendation or a parental override.

Took:
Sophmore + junior year: APUSH - 5 (Our school does it in 3 semesters)
Junior year: AP Gov - 5
Senior: AP Calc AB - 5 (took the BC class, but got a D+ on the Calc 2 material. My teacher talked me into taking the AB test so she could save face. lolol)
Senior: AP Physics Mechanics - 4
Senior: AP Physics E&M - 5

I think I paid $85 a test

Put me a semester ahead as an engineering major.

I'm going to be a Freshman, and I'm going to post here anyways.

Honours Geometry (No AP, so this counts >_>. I already passed Algebra 2)
Honours English (Basically AP)
AP Latin II
AP Biology
AP World History

Next year's classes are all AP, I don't know why some Freshman classes are labeled as "Honors".

I don't see why people take so many AP classes. It's kind of pointless to take so many. And how are you able to take AP Chemistry as a sophomore? And APUSH? Do you not have pre-requisites to get into it? All of the AP classes at my school require pre-requisites and stuff.

At my school, you need to take Honors Biology as a freshman then Honors Chemistry as a sophomore. Then as a junior, if you have the math requirement, you can take Honors Physics, but junior year is when AP classes open up.

Back on topic:
Junior Year (This year): AP Chem and APUSH.
Senior Year (Next year): AP Gov, AP Physics, AP Stat. Not smart enough for AP Calc. :3[/COLOR]

Lol. I'm sure you can do as good or better if you study 'cause A) I'm a white chick and B) I'm a slacker. I'm a good test taker and I had (for the most part) really good teachers.

Ended up going to UF, yay for being poor~

TBH, AP tests aren't that hard. You have to learn their question-making patterns in the multiple choice, learn how to write essays quickly, and get an AP review book if your teacher outright sux. Take at least 2 practice tests for every exam, more if you can. I read the book religiously in almost every class, even when the teacher gave good notes. My bio book always put me to sleep, though. </3

AP is most useful for flunk-out courses that you really don't want to take again, like freshman Comp/English or Chem/Bio, the latter being infested with perfectionist pre-meds and profs who feel it's their god-given duty to fail 70% of the class. Don't beat yourself up if you don't pass the test, because trying will help a lot when you retake the course. Also, you'll end up retaking most courses that are in your major, especially if you ran out of credits you're allowed to take in (usually about 5 yearlong classes), so the scores on those are mostly for getting in to college. Even then, a lot of schools look harder at SAT II's, which is weird because they're easier tests from the same company...

Morgana, you must be doing something crazy because I took pretty much every AP there was at my school except for Chem and English. That's 9 AP tests xD

In no particular order:

Except for Biology (zzz) and Math (y so serious?), all the teachers were a lot of fun. Especially the Economics teacher, who was easy to tease because of his ludicrous religion to pinch every penny. "Whoever doesn't have a notebook for this class, I'll sell one to you for 25 cents each." Then afterwards, "Ha! I ripped you all off! I got them for 10 cents!" Another claim he made was that, while his wife wanted to adopt two children just to raise a family, he only agreed to it because there was "a discount". Best of all, he wasn't afraid to admit his penny-pinching and he was okay with us having a good time at his expense, just so long as he get his returns from his "investments". And at the end, we littered money on his driveway saying "What a deal! $" because that's what he keeps on saying (and apparently he didn't know it).

I was pretty darn lazy and inept by the time Senior year ended.

11th grade: Bio AP or Physics AP. I took Bio first.

I want to get into the IB programme when I hit 11th grade, and my High School transcript needs to be sparkly clean and full of advanced classes. xd

Apparently the AP chem teacher at my school can't teach at all, and the only way to not fail the class and the test is to take matters into your own hands.
I think our pass rate last year was less than 50%.
