Flame Gears with an Ice/Lightning Elemental weapon.

Having never used an elemental weapon not corresponding to my class, and after a rudimentary search revealed 1 remotely useful result off Basil, I'll ask here. Seems like an obvious answer but I don't know.

Will the 0.75x penalty apply to the DoT off Flame Gears and can it be avoided with Elemental Reset?

Used a fire staff today, had 35008 max. Checked ice-based Ice Demon's DoT (90%) with it, did 31507 ticks which is exactly 0.9 x 35008. Penalty doesn't seem to apply to it.

I seem to have answered my own question. Lol. >_>
