about master miracle cubes

do you actually need unique items to use the master miracle cube? Because I know you can go from rare>unique without getting epic.

so is it
1. Needs the item to be unique to use the cube on

or

2. Does not need the item to be unique, but a good idea to get unique anyways

A Master Miracle Cube can change the rating from rare to epic to unique to legendary.
The only cube that can change the rating to legendary is a Master Miracle Cube. A normal Miracle Cube can only change the rating to unique.

You can get unique on first reveals? Isn't that basically the same thing? I got two unique items without cubing them.

I know about a first reveal. I got a unique rating on my half earrings once on first reveal.
The thread starter said you can go from rare to unique without getting epic first. He says rare, so the item has been already identified, thus the first reveal is a rare rating, right?
