so yea, this shall be the "official thread" for the YGO duels, here are the basic rules:
1) We play in http://www.duelingnetwork.com/
2) We play using advanced rules (respecting the banned/limited list)
3) Despite playing with advanced rules, the games are made under the "traditional unrated" section, so as to find them easily.
4) Room's name shall be "Southperry" or "Southperry/character you are challenging, pass should be "southperru" all in lower letters, watcher's note should be Southperry, and i guess no need for watcher's password, but if you want to put one (the key is even easier to find) go with "southperru" again.
5) If you would like to challenge someone to a rated battle, please make sure to say so in your post! if your post just says "L> battle" or so, it's going to be assumed it's in traditional.
6) no cheating please, this goes with rule 3) don't want to see chaos emperor dragons and stuff, of course, if you want to try a "traditional style" deck, make sure to say so in your post
7) More important than anything, (but still please follow all the rules) have fun!

i am uncertain about the password, i kinda don't like it, so how about suggesting something in your post? also, i have terrible memory, so i would probably forget your name->YGO name, so please, post your YGO name down there to be added to the list.
we might hold a small tournament one of these days, discuss it in the thread, and once we are set up, i'll post it in here, anyways:

I have a lot of decks that work.
Stuff like easy samurais, gravekeepers, plants, hero, gemini, anti-meta, chaos, etc.
To make almost any deck work, run solemn judgment and 2 solemn warning if you can use the traps (Treeborn frog decks don't use traps, etc).
And depending on how often your deck special summons, put in pot of dualities. If you don't special summon every turn, put in 2-3.
If you do, test out 1-3. It adds speed and consistency, makes most decks good.
For the meta right now, the following are basically staples:
1-2 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 Solemn Judgment
2 Solemn warning
1 book of moon (if you have the room)
monster reborn (unless youre using gravekeepers)
dark hole
1 seven tools of the bandit
giant trunade
And there's cards that are practically staple and can work in just about any deck:
mirror force
torrential tribute
1-3 Dimensional Prison
2 bottomless trap hole
0-2 Compulsory evacuation device (usually no room for these over anything else)
0-2 Effect Veiler
And if you can work around it:
Royal Oppression
Unless you're okay with a loss of consistency and feel like your deck will work anyways, try to not go above 42 cards. 40 is just about always the most optimal.
Even if you don't run the tuners, the following should be in every extra deck, provided you have the room (Heroes shouldn't have room for more than 3 synchros):
1 T.G. Hyper Librarian
1 Ally of Justice Catastor
1 Brionac, dragon of the ice barrier
1 Gaia knight, force of earth or Iron Chain Dragon
1 Black Rose Dragon
1 Ancient Fairy Dragon or Scrap Archfiend
1 Stardust Dragon
1 Scrap Dragon
1 Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
1 Mist Wurm
Depending on the deck, you'd take out certain cards, first usually being mist wurm or ancient fairy.
The bolded are cards that you MUST put. They are too good.
The most generic and optimal tuners that can work in MOST decks that aren't tier 1 (outside of plants) would be
1 Glow Up Bulb
1 Plaguespreader Zombie
For general synchro engines, best cards would be..
2 Destiny Hero Malicious
3 Reborn Tengu
Other possible tuners if they work well include..
Genex Ally Birdman
Deep Sea Diva

This looks like it could be fun...got bags full of cards from '04-'05 laying around. Missing some since I let my cousin dig through them. The rules will confuse the hell out of me so I'll stick to the cards I know.
