I think I had some strange error like that when I was messing about with video card drivers or directX stuff (when trying to get rid of freeze lag). Maybe you disabled, deleted or have an incompatible version of some file (video related or other) required by MS, but not installed with it.

Also something to try; If you usually launch from website, try running directly. Or if usually directly, try from website.

Hmm I usually run it from a flash drive but I installed maple on this computer when it did not work. It still does not work no matter if I run it from the website or manually. I think directx is for XP only right? If so then I am on a vista so thats not it. It has nVidia and I have been trying to update it but it seems to be all up to date. Any other advice?

You may have already tried this: temporarily disable antivirus and firewall, or anything else that could conceivably interfere.
Talking way above my head here, but maybe something in the registry is screwed up from running from flash drive or external hard drive. (eg drive letter mixup)
I presume MS used to work (or was that on another computer?); try to remember what was installed/uninstalled or changed between when it did work and now
(If you have other people on the same computer changing stuff it greatly complicates things.)

I have two laptops. One is super old but runs great and I use that alot. That's the one I played from a hard drive on. I can run it on that computer fine, with no problems. However, I am away from my house right now and brought my newer computer with me. This one ran MS great before the new patch. Now when ever I launch it from the website or the hard drive it gives me that error. Yesterday I got it working by updating some nVidia driver. Unfortunately I got a virus and had to preform a systems restore to save my computer. I am currently updating the same driver. If it works problem solved if not I give up. I don't remember updating anything to make MS stop working except patching. Well I hope with this new info you can help if not I give up!

EDIT: GGGGAAAAAAHHHHHHHH I UPDATED THE DRIVER AND NOW I AM GETTING "Error Code: -2147287038 (Unknown Error 0x80030002)"! Any ideas?
