They don't have to be great, but graphics can MAKE the game. I.E., Limbo is known for the noir film type of graphics:

I don't know what games YOU are being spoiled with, but those graphics look really great to me.

@OP: You're saying Dishonored is a great game? It looks pretty bland to me...

And I hate when people gauge a game's graphics by a video. Even if the video is in 1080p...it still doesn't look the same.
