Announcing a World Alliance
IImaplers Wrote:@Whut: I understand your pain in Demethos not getting merged (yet). But on the bright side, if there are complications in the YMCK alliancing (I bet there will be), Nexon might learn how to prevent it from happening when time comes for other servers, i.e. Deme, to get merged.

The problem being: Who knows how long they'll get around to Deme. It took them months after KMS got multiple world merges for them to do one

doesn't it have a server based in the eastern seaboard? if it does it's going to cause problems merging since a portion of the populace isn't even IN the US

A portion of every populace isn't in the US; Australians, Canadians and everyone from Latin America use GMS.

I agree that El Nido doesn't need to be merged since it doesn't need anything to coax players into starting there because it's "The East Coast server". If people see that and don't want to play there, c'est la vie.

To the people asking about guild names: In kms they renamed same-name guilds with having a _M(edere) or _C(ulverin) added to the guild name. e.g. AwesomeGuild_C and AwesomeGuild_Y for a chaos and yellonde guild sharing the same name.

Also, everyone benefits in different ways from the server merge. Bigger worlds benefit in having cheap ass prices (they have more money in their economy compared to the others) and smaller worlds benefit in having godly gear that might not have been easily accomplished in your server. 4 worlds worth of resources/mesos all combined.

It sucked really hard for the first year (fighting over FM spots, training grounds, bossing and such), but after that it's fine. We went from being able to easily find C-2 spots (when they were the bees knees pre-bb) to having to leave because of assfags bringing their bishops everywhere and ksing us from the maps. Your first 2x event after the merge will be hellish.

Common sense, but still.

geographically the US east coast is farther away than the west from Australia (if the server is really based here) so choosing this server not be the best thing
by no means did I say that it was the ONLY server with a foreign population; some of my friends play here because the time zones are closer to theirs.

I could, using your post as an example, but that seems silly.

It could also be noted that moving to left or the right in lieu of actually moving forward would be semi-progress if the object in question had not previously been demonstrated to move at all. IE: "It's a start".

If the sum amount of moment is positive, it's still progress.

My point was, it's ridiculous to ask for progress, get the first steps, and then whine that it's not enough.

For anyone else who can't grasp the obvious; continuing to reply to argue off topic errata is not "dropping it", nor staying on topic.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

How did things get better? Why was only the first 2x hellish?
Did the number of channels increase?
Did the number of people wanting to train in the best spot decrease? Why? They transferred out of the now-crowded world? They gave up on training on 2x? They went to inferior maps rather than fight for the best? Somehow none of these outcomes appeal to me.

Demented, worry not.

I'm calling Demethos, Arcania, Galicia and Zenith alliance soon.

Unless, of course, the M.Y.C.K alliance attempt blows up in our faces due to "unforeseen technical issues".

I would gladly have let some other worlds be the guinea pigs.

"It seems the tape is not transfering the data from one server to the other. Because of these unforeseen technical issues, we will be wiping all 4 servers. Please refer to our TOS for further information"

Things got better because people quit and less people were wandering around. It wasn't JUST the first 2x, but the first 2x is going to be the most drastic, whenever you realize just how many people you've merged with compared to being in a dead world.
No, we had 19 channels (+1 for adults) before and after.
People stopped going to C-2 (most popular place) and started going to alternatives.
World transfers don't exist in kms.
Yes they abandoned, because there were people with BISHOPS walking around ksing until they got their way. We couldn't compete because hardly anyone had gotten to 4th job in our english community at the time.

It's gonna suck for a while having to fight 3 other worlds for what used to be easy to get. Zakum runs were the WORST, packed 24/7, but luckily you guys already have instanced zakum (right?).

No, we do not have instanced zakum. Just multiple channels to do it on.

Somehow, making peaceful people quit doesn't sound like the right way to cure underpopulation...
But I guess we don't have much choice. Adapt or quit, can't run away.

We're better off for it, since it was extremely hard to get good equips before the merge. You can also make new friends, which we couldn't take advantage of.

What's the point of having an EST server? Please, tell me. One that is dead too by the way.

I don't feel the difference playing in Nido than I do any other server. So what's the point? Just merge that ghost server with the other ghost servers.

More "technical difficulties" that could arise:

1. Yo Dawg, I herd you like lag, so we merged YMCK, but added in Scania for teh luls, so you can lag more while lagging.
2. Yo Dawg, I herd you like dupes, so when we merged YMCK, we duped everyone's items 4 times each by accident so there could be more dupes while duping.
3. We merged Mardia, Kradia and Yellonde; but we 4got Chaos. WHOOPS Kiss
4. We merged everyone but we forgot to merge players who emigrated from other servers in the past to the included servers.
5. Hey guys, we merged Yellonde, Mardia, Chaos, and Khaini just like we said we would. Enjoy Cool
6. We never said merge was totally free. We merged 50% of each server's population for free. The other 50% must pay a small fee of 50k NX per each account. Buy NX today!
7. "You must be logged in for your character to be merged". AAAAAAAAAAAHHothead
8. You said you wanted "Old maple" to come back. So we accidentally deleted all servers while trying to merge YMCK, except for Scania, Windia, Bera and Broa. Old maple is back XD

Ain't gonna happen. They got hardware, they will be reluctant to cut off that Eastern server for as long as they can possibly excuse it. And so far, they are clearly excusing it.

Technically they're just leveraging the existence of the eastern servers for other games where proximity actually matters to provide one for MS as a novelty.
