Hello Maplers,

Let me introduce myself; Im Michael. I know youre used to Eurydice writing the Dev Blog, but Ive been given the pleasure of talking to you directly about what weve been working on recently and what were planning in the near future. I know you want to hear more from us, and I promise to update you regularly on the issues that you care about most.


Whats Been Happening?

So, lets get started. Im going to talk about some of the things weve done recently to help improve MapleStory as well as talk about this weeks update, Alliance Eternal. Finally, Ill give you a little bit of information on what were working on for this summer.

As many of you know, we had some rough times in February and March with groups or individuals causing latency and disconnects from the servers. We went to a lot of expense and put in many long hours to make the servers more secure and protected. Its great to see that our efforts are paying off with a more stable and predictable game play experience. We will remain vigilant and continue to protect MapleStory by improving our server environments.

We really hope youve been enjoying the exciting Mapler Appreciation events over the past two weeks, too, but now lets get into whats going on this week. We have some great new content releasing with the final update of the Alliance trilogy: Alliance Eternal.





Alliance Eternal is Here!

Hopefully, you joined us for our recent Twitch.tv live video stream as we assaulted the newly improved Lion Kings Castle. If you did, youve seen some of the awesome, enhanced skills that the Explorers and Cygnus Knights are getting with this update.

Ultimate Explorers are in for some big changes as well. (In case youve forgotten what Ultimate Explorers are, theyre level 50 Explorers you can create after getting a Cygnus Knight character to max level. They get to use some Cygnus Knight skills. (Read more about it here.) For those who already have an Ultimate Explorer, get ready for new skills, higher max health, and a new quest. If you havent tried this character yet, this is the perfect time to start.

The patch notes will be released soon with all of the details on the new content and events. Were also holding on to some special surprises starting this weekend that we know will get you excited!


Whats Coming Up Next?

Summer is almost here, and we have so much in store for new and long-time MapleStory fans. Early May brings our Seventh Anniversary celebration. Well be providing details soon, but we can say that this is one anniversary party you wont want to miss. Later in the same month will be a special treat for players who are long-time fans. Well have more information on this soon.

As we move into June, well be ramping up towards our big summer content release. Not just one but two new characters will soon be joining the MapleStory cast. While you may have heard about the Phantom hero if you follow the news of Korean MapleStory, were also preparing a brand new hero that will be exclusive to Global MapleStory. Ill be bringing you more news on our big summer updates in the near future.

They can BARELY add in KMS's updates w/o screwin' up, No way they seriously think they can make their own class...

Nexon America does not have in house devs, it's all done in Korea afaik.
Korea does the work and they'll send the files here to test it. Iit should just be like KMS content appearing on GMS' shores but with the GMS team's ideas and whatnot.

If it is good, it wont be exclusive for long.

Oh geezus...a GMS exclusive CLASS? It'll probably be even more broken than anything the Koreans could think up of .

also it's going to be released in every other version shortly after, just like other "exclusive" content. xD

but nonetheless it's probably going to be ridiculously broken. ... atleast I hope it is. no need for equips in that case ^_^

Seriously though, I'm genuinely curious as to what this will bring..

Damage formula for the new class will be like this:

(STR + DEX + INT + LUK)/1000 + (2x/100) + 0.01y + 0.005z

Where x is the total of NX spent on CS-equipped items on your character, and y is prepaid NX you have and z is NX credit.

For example, if I am at level 1 with 4 of each stat, 4800 NX worth of CS-equipment, 50000 prepaid NX and 10000 NX credit:

4+4+4+4/1000 + 2(4800)/100 + 0.01(50000) + 0.005(10000) = 646.016 or 646 damage at level 1!

Want to hit monsters harder without having to level up? Buy CS items AND GET SOME NX TODAY!

Oh geezus...a GMS exclusive CLASS? It'll probably be even more broken than anything the Koreans could think up of .

The most game breaking content GMS has ever really come out with (in my opinion) is the VIP weapons back when Tier 4 still existed. KMS, on the other hand, released the Potential system and then later implemented the Legendary grade potential that essentially blew EVERYTHING out the window.

Not to mention it was KMS that somehow released a class with Flash Jump, Rush, Flying Assaulter, double hitting Hurricane, double hitting Final Attack, and double weapon potential. Seriously, I really cannot see anyone coming out with a class topping that without getting high on a lethal dose of LSD first.

I hope it's a summoner class. We've needed one of those forever.

For all we know, it could be a CK or the Pirate Legend.

That would be quite the twist if GMS releases the pirate legend first.
