Smokers set 14th century castle ablaze

A 14th century castle has burned down after two boys having a crafty cigarette set it alight.

The children, aged 11 and 12, set fire to undergrowth around Krasna Horka, in eastern Slovakia, leaving the 700-year-old fortress gutted.

A police spokesman said: “Officers found that two local boys were trying to light up a cigarette and because of careless use of safety matches, they set grass at the castle hill on fire.

“The castle’s roof burned down completely, as well as the new exhibition in the gothic palace and the bell tower. Three bells melted.”

Almost 100 firemen brought in from surrounding areas managed to save 90 percent of the castle’s historical collections, including oil paintings and photographs of the castle from the end of the 19th century. - Daily Mail

Not sure which is worse. The fact it caught on fire by children or that the children were 11 and 12.

This is why I will never smoke, or let my children smoke.

The general idea of smoking annoys me.
It kills you, it makes you smell, it makes you look like a douche. I don't understand the appeal.

It also annoys me at work, where people who smoke are allowed a smoking break what seems like every 5 minutes, while those that don't smoke have to keep working. How is that fair?

But also the parents and the lack of gruesome documentals about smoking (even though half the facts are made up) to make the kids watch and think it twice before doing something stupid (yes I think some childhood trauma about cigarettes is better than the kids smoking).

Worst thing is, the kids will probably brag about this when they get older.

I laughed extremely hard at this. Then felt sad that a nice structure is ruined.

I hope you don't seriously believe kids wont pick up smoking because of some documents. Heck, forbidden fruit will just be seen as a cooler thing to do. I mean, look at weed.

At that age where you pretty much belive anything said to you, a documental showing the gradual change on lungs thanks to tabaco will at least make you wait till you're older (and belive said documental was just bullshit) to start smoking.

Kids will believe just about anything for a little while, but they grow skeptical of a lot of things as they get older. None of us believe in santa clause because of this. I grew up in a Christian home, my entire family is Christian, I was forced to go to church for 8 years, and I'm still an atheist.
