SOPA Act

Update.... Or not. Despite the fact that Congress was supposed to be out of session until the end of January, the Judiciary Committee has just announced plans to come back to continue the markup this coming Wednesday. This is rather unusual and totally unnecessary. But it shows just how desperate Hollywood is to pass this bill as quickly as possible, before the momentum of opposition builds up even further.

I haven't watched a movie in years. It's all just as bad as current games are; the entire entertainment industry is on a downward spiral, and the only thing that will fix it is if the entire industry dies and restarts from scratch.

So far, it's not just blogging websites that are blowing up because of the SOPA, but even social networking sites (Twitter, G+, etc) are going apesh`it over it too. I hope this sh`it doesn't get passed, because quite frankly, I am rather terrified of it.

This could be good or bad. Good in that we can still hammer them with more appeals for them to vote down this bill. Bad in that... no politician would be happy to be in that meeting, and such an attitude could force them to vote just to end the ordeal so that they can go home.

Either way, damn Hollywood indeed.

I think you guys are taking this much too seriously. You can say whatever, but people are seriously over-reacting. The internet's been (slightly) censored, it's not like it's anything new. TV, Phone, etc. has been censored for years. The internet is still new you guys. Things will happen; whether we want it to or not.

Sometimes, it's better to fear the unknown and prevent it from happening in the first place, rather than learning of the consequences once it has happened.

I've completely ignored all the ones before this one because it was all just bills claiming they would directly persecute people, which we all know is impossible for the government to do unless they deployed the entire military 24/7 on teenagers DLing pirated software. This one is different, they are now targetting the websites. Any website hosted IN the US that is in violation will be completely removed. Most large websites are hosted here, by the way. Any that are not hosted here, they will simply DNS+IP block.

Whether we're overreacting or not doesn't change the fact it's unconstitutional and violating our rights as americans. (lol like they have been the past few decades as it is) This bill doesn't need to pass. At all. It's just the entertainment industry desperately trying to screw everyone else over to attempt to keep their pockets filled with money.
