5.8 earthquake in Washington

nothing in texas, but then again, texas <.< seems like apart from the shock, id didn't cause much problems though

Heard about it when I was on Maple for a moment, people in the party talking about it while still playing the game, and Smegas spammed up. An earthquake in the east coast sounds rare, Earthquakes are normal to me.

I hope you guys are okay, with monitors attacking you and all.

Felt it here in metro Detroit. I thought it was a kid jumping, then realized they were laying in bed watching tv.

Felt nothing down here in Manning, SC. Got a text message from my school in Raleigh about it though.

Am I the only one searching for nearby nuclear power plants after hearing the news?

I have no idea about the history of earthquakes in the east coast, but I don't think 5.9 is something they can't take. Our only nuclear power plant can take up to a 5.2 earthquake, whilst the heaviest in it's region (in 1687) was 3.1. So I guess if your region has more frequent earthquakes, it's not much of a worry.

My first earthquake !

In Virginia as well, I was in an old ass building but still felt nothing. I saw pipes and AC conduit rocking back and forth.

I'm in Bowie, MD (Between Annapolis and DC).
We felt it while I was in school. At first we were like "Is some fat kid running down the hallway?" then two seconds later it was "OH SHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIZZZZ WERE GONNA DIE!" Our school got evacuated and chaos ensued. We were laughing about it though, because we were evacuated ten minutes after the quake (when we all might have been dead)
Some of you might not comprehend that earthquakes here are EXTREMELY rare. We had one last year but everyone was asleep and it was also pretty minor (I never felt it). This was serious shaking though, the people on the news from New York and Detroit should shut their traps, wusses.

I've still got no phone service though.

Major carriers suggest that you stick to SMS for now, until everybody stops freaking out and calling 911 to report about the quake.

Same. Living up in Vancouver (and apparently we've been overdue for a BIG earthquake by 200 years now...), if there was a 5.8 earthquake, I definitely would've felt it and was wondering what the heck was going on.

I didn't even feel it here in NJ. People on the east coast are making such a big deal because we normally don't get them, but I used to live in California so this all just seems silly to me.

Don't think that the East coast has too many. They're not really near any real active fault lines and it's no where close to the plate boundary (reason why Cali gets lots of earthquakes). I mean the only super large earthquake before this was i think like an 8.0+ back in like the 1700s or something and that was in Missouri or somewhere.
