Foods like this have existed in Iowa and the Midwest for decades. There probably has been some outcry over the years, but it's not like it will actually make a difference. Fried food like this is part of the culture of Midwestern Americans. I read an article today saying how one fried butter on a stick has 45g of fat by itself, not including the cinnamon and other stuff they put on it to flavor it, which adds another 15g of fat. I for one, however, think food like this is unappealing.

They also have fried twinkies and such in the Midwest as well.

Paula Deen demands more butter.

The south has it, too. When I went to the state fair 10 months ago, I recall seeing:

• Fried cheesburgers
  
• Fried apples
  
• Fried twinkies
  
• Fried Moonpies
  
• Fried ice cream
  
• Fried waffles
  
• Chicken Waffles (unrelated, but it's a piece of fried chicken wrapped in two breakfast waffles)
  
• Fried soda
  
• and fried everything else they could figure out how to fry.
