Don't recommend anime here. You all watch garbage.

I remember when I thought I would give anime a try and I decided to go with Elfen Lied...

Horribly gruesome. Some of the scenes were really horrific (that dog scene was really sad but at least they didn't show it) but all in all it was pretty decent and I liked the anime as a whole. It was only 13 episodes so pretty good because I'm not about to dedicate myself to something with like 50+ episodes. Definitely not for everyone though. I haven't bothered to watch another anime since.

I feel like we have similar tastes Sarah, so maybe I'll give Cowboy Bebop a look at as well...

elfen lied was my first anime, dear lord i couldn't bring myself to watch the second episode after seeing the first, i was horribly paranoid (i was still a kid.)

Cowboy Bebop is utterly amazing. I love it. :|

Try AnimeA, but they only have download links. I highly urge you to download over streaming, quality is better both with visual and audio. The english dub imo was great, I grew up on it and it's one of the few animes that I would chose to watch in English.

If you liked Cowboy Bebop, you may like Trigun. It's scifi ish, funny, but serious, and has a lot of guns. Netflix just removed it. >_>

some dubs plain suck, or can't compare to the original voices though, i find that almost any anime with lots of screaming and epic fights sounds better in jap, as the voices in english sound forced (i.e. TTGL) however, not all of them, Dragon ball is a good example.

i like watching the oldies every now and then, tekkaman blade was pretty cool, and i have to finish watA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TAAA! WOATAAAA! WATA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-ooooooooh.... YIAAAAAAAH!

English, of course. Why would I watch subbed? I mean, I know that animaniacs are crazy about SUBS OVER DUBS but I'm not going to sit there reading while I'm trying to watch something. What's the point of that? Also the dubs aren't bad.

Anyway, it's not a huge spoiler, it won't ruin much anything.

( I do suggest you finish Cowboy Bebop and stay away from this thread. It's like watching a new anime that's currently airing and going to /a/ and just looking at all the spoilers, it ruins it for you entirely.)

That quote wasn't meant to be like "Hey Sarah, good job on not reading my post" or anything haha. It was just silly how something got spoiled and I made that reference to things being spoiled before it did. Shidoshi likes pony anime, I don't expect any less from him to be honest.

People I know who hated anime over everything still liked Death Note.
