IQ quiz!

Got an 8 but I had to take a pen and paper to a few questions... not sure if that's cheating or not.

Got 7/10 on first try, lemme see what I got wrong here...

Wrong on 2, 8 and 9.

-Was lazy about making a Venn diagram for 2
-On 8 I thought "orbit that spot" meant just passing by it 3 times, not making 3 complete orbits.
-On 9 I just took the perimeter of 50 and changed it to 44, then proceeded to see the biggest surfaces. Guess I should think more on the problem at hand, you can't make your blanket longer than 10 in both sides...

Got 9 with everything in head. I spent a particularly huge amount of time making sure I don't lose track of things, though. Would've been faster if I'd resorted to pencil and paper.

Lost on the satellite one. I thought you only have to pass that particular point 3 times to make it work:
- first complete orbit: += 8 hours (touching the first time)
- back track 1/4 of the orbit: += 2hours
- move forward one more orbit += 8 hours (touching the second time)
- move backwards one more quarter += 2 hours
- move forward HALF the orbit (touching the point the 3rd time and ending the game) += 4 hours

Grand total: 24 hours.

Guess I don't have to feel too bad about getting this one wrong. I just suck at reading headings.

For the record I did try to take it a little while after. Answered the first six questions and then started getting annoyed so I just picked 4 random answers. Got 4/10 and none of the random ones were right.

This question is just plain stupid. Using a clock as an example, and then having small hands and big hands that do not move at one revolution per hour/day is insane.

a good method to do it, but keep in mind that from 30 hours -> 40 hours it passes over twice... once at 36 (for 300% or 3 orbits) and again at 40 (still for 300% / 3 orbits)
and claiming something is poorly written because you couldn't get a 10/10 is just plain silly. the questions are chock full of key words chosen very carefully and not to be ignored. in this case you and kalovale mistook "orbits" for "passes". in my case i missed "second largest area" and a lack of any restrictions on x. it sucks to misread, but it's human.

I didn't bother counting as high as 30 -> 40 hours, because it's already orbited above the starting point 3 times at 24 hours.

If you want to extend that list,
1) hour 8 (contested - it hits the start, then turns around)
2) hour 12 (passes across)
3) hour 24 (passes across)
4) hour 36 (passes across)
5) hour 40 (contested - it hits the start, then turns around)
6) hour 48 (contested - it hits the start, then turns around)

Every 40 hours the cycle repeats so just take it from there (4 forward orbits - 1 reverse orbit = progress of 3 per 40 hours)

The idea that when it reaches the start point after 8 hours orbiting, but then turns around and is thus invalid, doesn't make sense to me - the answer itself indicates that in order to orbit, it only has to touch the start point. Otherwise, the answer would be 36 + Δt hours, because that way it passes across a point before the start, the start itself, and then a point after the start in consecutive order. If you just stop the satellite after 36 hours, there's no way to tell whether it's actually the 3rd orbit or not.

And HolyPie man, idk if it was a standardized test or whatever, do whatever it takes to win, but this was a logic test for nothing. It's more fun to not use the answers.

If they had meant passes, it would have said passes. It's a "difficult logic test", the words are not chosen haphazardly.
