Possible redesign of U.S. currency

This is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. I always hated the euro because it looks so gaudy, money is money, not art.

Whenever I go to the US I hate dealing with their currency. It is awkward because every bill looks the same, and half the time I'm not sure how much money I have. That's why I like multiple colours, it makes a cursory glance at your wallet tell you exactly how much money you have, as opposed to having to pull each bill out to establish what it is worth.

But as I said before, is it really possible to tell 100% if what you're holding is a 1 dollar bill or a 5 dollar bill? I know that blind people's senses are heightened, but is it really possible to tell the difference between a 4 inch piece of paper and an inch and a half?

Arg, thought you quoted me for some reason. I like the idea of having different sized bills, but I think the point is moot until the government agrees to look at redesigning the currency, until then, it won't be more than just fun speculation.

I was talking about the "new" currency if you followed what I was quoting.

The blind can't use rulers to check lengths, darn it!

Why would they need rulers? It's easy enough to make billfolds with built in measure-slots of the appropriate staggered length.
You can easily tell what denomination you have based on the slot it fits into and the position from base/top.

Money gets bent, folded, squished, flattened, washed, wet. Braille fails. Size remains.

It is a synthetic polymer(it doesnt fold that great), each note is a different size. I still miss the old paper versions and they were phased out in 1992.

I'm just stating that I prefer Braille.

I'm feeling totally stupid right now, so please let's move away from this topic.

I'm sure the US Government thought of the visually handicapped when they designed the bills, so let's just leave it at that.

I think it is a good thing to get more colour into currency, makes it easier to differentiate. Any reason why the USA hasnt changed to a more colourful range of notes?

I am surprised more countries havent changed to this. It would save the USA a lot in reprinting I'm sure. Polymer notes last a lot longer.

Singapore has them. I agree they're VERY hard to fold. >.>

Why do we need paper currency again? I'm for the new designs 'cept those would cost more to print (takes more than one ink color) and I doubt losing the green hue is a good idea (though technically the dollar ceased being a "greenback" a long time ago)
