MapleStory 2.0: What else should be changed?
#41
Said it on the main thread, but just noticed this one.

Double jump for Night Lord would be awesome... And by double jump, I mean a second jump, like "jump - flash jump - jump again in midair - flash jump again - land"

An important thing to be changed as I had just been affected by this: Change the waiting times of boat/ships/transports/etc. Seriously, not only is it very infuriating that you see the clock at XX:X8 at the timer where you could still get on, but if you do not have haste and/or Flash Jump (Or even if you do), "We are departing now, sorry, wait for next ride." It does not end there, for those lucky enough to get on the rides, your internet freaks out on you, and bam you are back at town and have to wait for the boat again. It would not be so bad if there was not such a large wait time in between the boats, but yeah... And back in the day it was worse when people used the air ship more, where you either be bored out of your mind while waiting for the ship to take off, and then if you AFK you have a chance to find yourself dead because Balrogs appear.

Even though it sounds like it'd be the same or faster, there has to be a reason for which nobody parties without HS. I can tell myself that I find it slower and think just sharing is faster for most places like Oblivion. What I tried to say was that the exp reduction shouldn't exist so you get 100% exp from your own kills + 20% (or whatever the value is) from your partner kills. If you're with 3 ppl it shall become 110% exp from your own kills + 20% from your partner's and so on.

You already get a bonus for partying. It's currently 88% exp for your own kills and 22% for your partner's if you're the same level in a 2 person party. It's more in larger parties.

Unique boss drops. Most of the newer bosses only drop potions. Some don't even drop that. It's kind of sad. Another thing too, no more helmets. Between Ravana, Zakum, Targa, Chaos Zakum, Episode 1 bosses, Scarlion, the PPQ, and that Neo Tokyo boss, there's no reason to wear a normal helmet. It doesn't help that they're all ugly as sin too. Maybe a boss that gives a good pair of shoes or something.

Higher minimum level requirements, especially with weapons. With the higher mobs, this might actually happen. There should be a clearer difference in strength from a 150 vs a 170, not just stats and skills.

I always thought it'd be nice for armor to have a lower stat requirement than the weapon of the same level (for those classes who's armor has secondary stat requirements).

The set idea is the only major thing.
There should be some epic set for having a boss/pq equip for each slot, but then of course they'd need a top/bottom/overall/cape. With the PQs being open to all levels, it'd work great for everyone and if they have more and more bosses or pqs for high levels, it takes longer to complete.
And I guess a storyline for every job (Pretty much the episodes), but it should span up to 200.

Ok, just change my whole statement to "increase the exp values for partying."

If they did that, then you'd see every one wearing boss clothes and everybody would look the same. I think the set items idea is better. If something make an Unique "Boss Set" which parts you'd gather by killing our mayor bosses except pink bean and above. For example, Nexon Korea could take the busshunter Set as they took our raven weapons then make it so you gather a part after killing a boss, Like replacing Zakum helmet for Boss hunter helmet, getting Boss hunter boots from Pianus, a new boss hunter cape from Papulatus, The boss hunter overall from Dagonoir or Dragon Rider and turn Horntail's pendant into the bosshunter pendant.

I also think they should really change around the equips.
Like have a quest for zak to get the helmet instead (requring you to kill 1st-3rd body) and depending on your level you'll get different stat Z-Helms, with the ability to upgrade them as you hit the level range with a collecting quest or killing Zakum again, until you finally get the +15 helmet, as well as buffing the levels of the equips.
Like the +5 helmet at 50, +10 at 80 and +15 at 120. Great boosts like that for a lvl50 just isn't right IMO.
Pretty much give us weak boss equips at first from a quest instead of a drop, and have further quests allow us to upgrade it.
Oh but still making the quests rather long/difficult so not everyone can have it.

They'd have to drastically change zak's level, wouldn't they? If the quest starts at 50 you'd still need a full-blown squad (roughly six attackers or more) to kill it. The idea is good, but some details probably can't be perfected. How about just making weaker versions of zak for every level range? Or better yet, just have new bosses that give helmets simialr to zhelms ( I don't think of the 12 stat helms being like zhelms too much).

I agree with the more/better/better rewards for quests as well as the no level requirements for quests.

I also would like to see four new item tabs, one for untradeable items , one for untradeable usable items like scrolls/pots, one for untradeable equipment and one just for Medals...yeah I know it is a bit much to ask.

I doubt that tab system would work well.

As it stands, the way they have the equipment sorted in the item window makes perfect sense. In the WZ files, the first number in each WZ ID represents which slot it goes in. So 1 for eqp, 2 for consume, 3 for set-up, etc. etc.

If we were going to get new inventory tabs it would probably go like this:

Equip, Use, Etc., Maker, Medals, Set-up, Cash Shop

The Maker tab would hold ores, powders, and monster crystals.

I absolutely agree with you, but instead of having those tabs in the default player storage, make them a part of their respective systems. (I.E. The medal storage would be a part of the Medal UI, and the maker storage would be a part of the Maker UI).

I don't know about the rest of you, but personally I think it'd be AWESOME if they changed the 3rd job advancement mobs for the adventurers, they just seem really plain to me, and don't entirely represent each explorers 3rd job, if they used more skills from both/all three job divisions (ex. Athena Pierce using Inferno and Blizzard) and different summons (Grendal using summon dragon instead of the Tauromacis) That'd be very nice Big Grin

I agree with this... why even have Medals in our inventory? We have the Medal Log Interface why not just use that for equipping medals?

There also needs to be a Quest tab for quest items...

Might as well call the set-up tab "Chairs" and put those NLC quest items into the Quest tab. (Or just have a Chair User Interface lol)

I think it would be really cool if they made a weapon/equip swap button, for like on my Drk and i want to spam Fury instead of Crusher (or 1-h sets to 2-h for warriors), press a key and fast swap to a PA or vise versa with a spear, it would also be nice so if you have a Scar helm or "Ugly equips" to swap to something more eye appealing for when your not in combat. Just a thought but could be cool.

change all mob attack dmg to be like heal (stronger on 1 or 2)

Less low level quests, more high level quests.
It's pretty funny how you can level up from 10 to like 30 from main quests, and then receive about 70 side quests which you have no time to do.

I'd like to see some new tilesets for the older areas: compared to Nautilus Port the tiles from Henesys just look ugly. Some older BGMs can also use a remix(and Florina Beach should just get a new one, the current one just lacks something).

Like Tukkun said: quest spread out. Most of the quests are for low levels and there's no real reason to do them once you're past the level they give good rewards at.

Also, rather than new inventory tabs we could have an item in which Maker items(with similar items for other types of stuff) are stored, but you can still place them in your inventory to trade/sell them. It would be like Inventory > Etc. > "Box" > Ores. Ores and such would be placed into the box on pickup, but you can move them between the box UI and your inventory anytime. This would leave more room for Quest Items and Monster Pieces while still having a limit on our inventory space(otherwise Nexon would never do it). More than half of my Etc. inventory is filled with Ores and Powders, so it'd be great to have 1 slot filled instead of 15ish.

There's probably much more that could/should be changed, but I can't come up with anything else right now.

Make medals become titles which you can choose anytime once you've earned them, with attached bonuses so they don't clog up spaces.

More bosses, raids for various level ranged with level caps. Once chaos versions come out, regular zakum can be dropped down to level 50 with level 110 as the cap. And all bosses should drop chaos/white scrolls at a decent rate to make them worthwhile to farm on. Hunting monsters drastically lower levelled than you should give you experience penalty, up to -100% for say 40 levels apart or higher.

Battle stances - full attack +10% damage -30% defense (or take 30% more damage), normal, defensive +10% defense -30% damage (would help in surviving in certain parts of the game)

Elemental weapons for all classes with lower attack base, or at least the available enchantments to add to weapons. More bosses with balanced elemental attributes, everything is like fire or holy weak in the entire game, need more variety.

Give axes and blunt weapons distinct effects, axe can bleed with DoT damage or just chance to inflict more critical damage, blunt can stun (even though ACB does it auto) or bone shatter/armor crush effect that lowers monster's defense or to bypass armor (armor piercing to certain degree). Swords get nothing, their weapon speed makes up for it. I never understood the purpose having wands and staves for the same class. Should really allow mages to use staves only and clerics wands. Evans should use armlets or books in the first place and none of the two.

Skillbooks starting third jobs, creating a bigger market.

Offline mail/message system. Duey has that PD storage or whatever but it was never made to work. The only way to leave messages now are probably with hired merchants, which brings me to the next point. Track system for hired merchant shops please. An NPC at the entrance with a list of hired merchants' names where everyone can browse through, maybe even with the first 3 items in shop shown upon entry highlight. This could be an extra cs feature like the remote control.

Invite to expedition button on buddy list, please. And an extra confirmation box when you click LEAVE only, not kick or at least move those two buttons further apart. Get rid of the 'You have invited xxx to the xxx.' box, if you must have it, move it to the chat window with red notification font, just no stupid box. And please let us move offline people to other parties, it's really annoying that we can't and we have to kick. Extend expedition list to 10 parties, but still limit to 30 people.

Buff duration time with countdown when mouse is above buff icon. Useful for 2x rep buff and perhaps other buffs. New buffs should appear on the left, not on the right. Recasting the same buff should refresh the icon and not move the placement, I hate cancelling the wrong buff when it gets shifted. Numeric HP values be shown in HP mark box, perhaps even a mana bar in there too, can be smaller.

Experience bar should flash at user defined percentage, anywhere from 0-100% (0% meaning always flashing, 100% never) at 1% increments. Yes, I'm that lazy and I've missed a few levels while watching anime.

In-game joystick/gamepad control support.

Cooldown icons be shown somewhere like buffs, maybe slightly opaque and be display vertically on the right side of the screen. I don't have enough to place all of them on the quick slot box with all my potions, really annoying. And just like the buffs, duration should be shown when mouseover. "Is res back yet?" "I don't know, maybe 5 min?" Exact time will be nice.

Nexon's in-game clock, with time log on boss entries. I think the reset time for squad bosses is now midnight, or at least it's not 24 hours for sure. But it's just annoying to sit there and see. You may only enter zakum twice a day for like 15 minutes.

Windows 7/Vista support, enough said.
