Can't Get MS To Start After v.87
#1
I don't know if this is a bad place to post this since I see no other threads here...But...

I downloaded the patch successfully. But whenever I try to open Maplestory via Folder Game Launcher, Maple Icon on my homescreen, or by the MS website, I get an error message that looks like:

 Spoiler

I use Vista 32 bit if that helps.

Are you using compatibility mode or run as administrator? Try turning those off.

Yeah it's off and it still doesn't work. By the way someone on Nexon forum said "Found fix, change every .exe to compatibility off and have run as administrator checked " and it apparently worked for someone.

But I have no idea what that means. Can someone explain it F4.

Mine just doesn't open in general, it gives me GameLauncher popup and then nothing comes up after I choose Start Game.

Tried that solution, doesn't work.

It's the generic popup after trying 'Start Game' (The point where it seems to try and access the MapleStory.exe file as it doesn't even reach hackshield), "MapleStory has stopped working. Windows is looking for a solution."

Anyone got a fix for this -_-? My laptop had the same problem but when i redl the entire client it worked fine. Tried same on my desktop but it won't work. Only main difference is vista 64 vs 32 [the 32 is operable now].

Edit: This fixed it for me

Quote:Ok, so everyone has been saying right click and run as admin on the gamelauncher exe file and maplestory exe file, this didnt work for BUT there is a second part that must be done in order for it to work!!! but that is the first part of this fix! REMEMBER TO READ STEP 4 - 6 THEY ARE WHAT MADE MINE WORK.

1. Right click on exe file (e.g Maplestory.exe or gamelauncher.exe)

2. Click on properties

3. Click on the compatibility tab, and tick "Run as admin" DONT CLICK OK YET!!!

4. BEFORE YOU CLICK OK, under the "Run as Admin" box that you have clicked click "SHOW SETTINGS FOR ALL USERS" press continue or whatever if it asks you.

5. YOU HAVE TO TICK RUN AS ADMIN IN THIS SECOND BOX AS WELL, BOTH ADMIN BOXES MUST BE TICKED! mine didnt work with only the first "Run as Admin" box ticked.

6. Do this for Maplestory.exe and Gamelauncher.exe and see if maplestory worked, I did this for all of my .exe files but it may only need to be done on Maplestory.exe and Gamelauncher.exe

I hope this works for people, remember both admin boxes must be clicked on 1 file! I'm sorry if this doesnt work for some people, but I'm thinking it should, as mine didnt work with just one box ticked either, which seems to be the problem of needing both ticked, let me know if it works for anyone else!

I can't even tick the boxes...

It won't let me whatsoever, on BOTH windows.

Having the same error and I am not running it under compatibility mode.

There is an issue with gamelauncher.exe. For now just use the website. It worked for me, as I had this issue as well.

Turn on UAC in your control panel, and you'll be able to untick them. Though I tried this and nada.

Also the web launch worked once, after I fully reinstalled the game. But as of now, it too gives me the "Maplestory has stopped working."

Utter BS =/ Tried IE and Firefox.
