[Notice] Big Foot Glitch Abuse
#61
I'm confused at the people saying it's freezable... Whenever I ice shot it, it does the KB animation and just keeps on trucking into me. It's nowhere near the 3 secs it's "supposed" to be :-P

Anyhow... I'm glad they've addressed this until it can be fixed. It likely means I won't get a star, but it's still a good thing.

I'm with Isaac on this one. I recall NXProse saying something about an original way to killing this... Stunning it seems a great way. Also, the character used for the screenshots was a bowman... Who can stun. Probably, they didn't test it with poison, so only stun was the original idea, probably.

I hope they fix this, and they make this still original, with stun, doom, etc. Seems more fun than anything.

IsaacGS Wrote:I'm thinking they might try another solution aside from setting the boss flag. In particular, I expect that they may implement a sort of damage cap, similar to the ones on KMS Mansion monsters (You could never do more than 5 damage per hit, but naturally for bigfoot it'd be much higher). This would let us still use Poison and web, stun and doom without them going overboard. It's because they're trying to come up with this solution that they're taking so long.

There are other ways to fix Bigfoot as well:

Make it neutral/physical attack strong, poison weak, and make it flagged as a boss. Furthermore, make it possible to attack Bigfoot while in kb'ed stance, and lower the KB rate.

They could also recode parts of maple and set its boss flag as a 2 instead of 0 or 1, which could mean they can make a new type of bosses.

Yeah, because poisoning Bigfoot totally makes you illegitimate, I forgot. A player ASKED a Nexon representative about poisoning Bigfoot and he didn't state that it wouldn't work or that you shouldn't do it. In fact, he encouraged the player to do so.

An incompetent GM super-megaphoned about an event in Yellonde three days ago. After about a dozen ambiguous super-megaphones about glitchers, none of which implied as to what the glitch was, she said that "glitchers will get what's coming to them." She then proceeded to continue running her events, did not ever mention Bigfoot, poisoning, Eternity, or any of the players involved. Considering she does not even know third grade literacy rules, it's pretty safe for most people to assume she had no idea what was going on.

Making a notice threatening to punish anyone who's glitched a WEEK after a Nexon representative encouraged a player to poison a Bigfoot and SEVERAL DAYS after another inefficient representative said they will be punished, is not a very intelligent thing to do.

Now when they say punish............what are they implying?

It may not be the reason to poison him, but using shadow web on him may be illegitimate.

NxProse Wrote:Q: Great originality though I'm a tadbit worried about poisoning the boss.
A: There's a way to fight him and not die, although it takes some coordination. About the mobs, we'll have to see how it works out. No promises, though.

We can say, that he didn't talk about the boss, considering mobs =/= one monster. A mob is per definition groups of monsters in plural.

Or we can say that MOB is a movable object block, which is long for a monster in a game. Which is still in plural.

For me, though, the answer doesn't seem to reply to the question at all. It's rather blurry.

And, if shadow web (at least) is considered as glitching, as I assume it would be, it's not a big deal. People would understand, assuming they got a brain, that it's not intended by the creators that they should be able to use an attack supposedly used for hindering the monster to move, to be able to kill it extremely fast for extreme amounts of experience.

Cheesecake Wrote:Now when they say punish............what are they implying?

Nexon deals out the same punishment for glitching as for hacking.

Asked the F/P Mage...

Maybe a rollback on exp/stats/skills on everyone implied... Or people that gained 30 levels in a day :p

That's a pineappleing absurd! How were we players supposed to know this monster was not meant to be poisoned? We didn't abuse any pineappleing glitch, they didn't program it in a first place! I mean, there are freezable bosses in JMS, then why not Bigfoot? Why should I, and half of ms community, be "dealt with" for using LEGIT (back at the time, since they didn't even mention whether it should be poisoned, etc) ways in order to kill it?

LOL @ my edited swearing :3

Personally, I have to agree with Isaac. I think capping the DPS that poison does to it so that it can rival normal attacks is already a good enough solution without making FP mages lose too much. (And of course, without initiating another "omfg fp mages are all assholes" threads round 2.)

On the other hand, if they make him poison resistant but allow slow, seal etc .. I think that could work too. o_o All we really need is to have ways that don't impair our ability to kill it too much.

Edit: Koriz, if they didn't know about it -- fine. But with an "official warning" recently issued, they know now. In any case, I still dont think anything like this would have happened if common players shared some form of courtesy and respect.

Well the notice was directed to people using poison \ web on Bigfoot in the past as well. I have made over 100% from Bigfoots, nontheless my f\p friend who I was hunting BFs with leveled more than 8 times. Every Bigfoot we killed using with method was found of us, some of them even spawned over me. Not once have we seen a bigfoot during our ch surfing and didn't kill it because people were already killing it. We were doing it completely legaly, and now we're threatened by Nexon.

The line i somewhat worry about is this one:

Quote:those who have already knowingly abused it will be dealt with.

Whether or not it was a glitch or not has always been questionable up to this point, which was really the reason it has caused so much commotion. the people who have used this method to gain massive amounts of experience did not think that they were abusing a glitch. Instead, they thought of it as something nexon intended.

Now that it is officially considered glitch abuse, people shouldn't be doing it much anymore, but 'dealing' with those who 'knowingly' abused the 'glitch' is a bit discomforting to me.

i just hope we don't start seeing ex post facto law being used here.

Quote:It's kinda funny how they screwed something up again. God forbid, using your skills to kill a monster is a glitch now. ._. Last time I checked, that's what you do in this game.

Last time I checked, there was no way to get a few million EXP in less than a minute.

Quote:Free tip for Nexon: Hire at least 1 game-tester who know how this game works to check for bugs / glitch abuse before you release new untested content...

Or just get testers. There's nothing wrong with asking for testers... why'd they stop? One hired tester is no substitute for a few tens or hundreds of volunteers getting a look at pre-general release content.

If 40 seconds worth of casting mist is coordination... if you open your mind a bit, stunning the monster seems to be a much more reasonable conclusion.

---

Quote:And they can't do anything against people that "abusing" it
what the players can do? ignore the boss and not to kill it? lol

They can certainly ban the ones who misted their way to the top of Yellonde rankings.

Quote:I'm sure they realized it, they just actually had some faith that Nexon still was a somewhat-decent company.

I'm sure they are cynical enough after OPQ glitch wasn't patched for a few months (hmm... first world to use this to rise to the top of the rankings... which one is it?), they might have gambled that "Nexon won't do anything about it, hahaha."

No one is reading Prose's comment right. I believe you can even ask Cactuar, who was the one that asked that. Basically, Cactuar said that he was worried that bigfoot poisoning would turn into what it is now and he was asking if Prose was aware this was a possibility. When I read Prose's reply, it seems to me that he completely misinterpreted Cactuar's question:
That is, that instead of saying "This can be poisoned for huge damage, and that's bad", Prose was under the impression that Cactuar felt it couldn't be defeated without poisoning it. Prose lays this (incorrect) concern to rest by saying there are ways to beat it normally without dying (And, implied, without poisoning it.)

So, if this is the case, Prose is not saying "Go out and poison yourself a bigfoot!", he's saying "You don't need some trick like Poison to beat Bigfoot without dying."

seems right to me, but the KB glitch really needs to be fixed in order to make it more of a reality. Me 105 at the time, a 12x NL (not webing) a 12x Bowmaster, and an Bishop took about an hour to kill one, and i even used an apple for it. From what i remember from buying my zhelm, it takes slightly less time to kill Zakum with maybe 1 more attacker than it does to kill Big Foot. The only good thing i see from the KB glitch, is that it gives people a chance to run away from it if need be.

It's obvious by Prose's answer that he didn't understand what he was answering. "...it takes some coordination"; You think he would have said that if he realized DoT attacks would down it solo in less than a minute? "Coordination" would be useful for stuns, Doom, things like that, but DoT downs it basically instantly with ZERO coordination. Hell, a FP Mage could drop a mist cloud and immedaitely die, but their mist would still be able to kill the boss, even as the ghost of the player returns back to town. Some coordination.

Bahahaha

Incidentally, I kind of like how some of these guys can't be hit while they're in knockback animation. Adds a bit more technique required. I know killing all the Elder Wraiths I did that it would have been a great deal easier if I could hit them while they were KB'd, but easier does not equate to funner.

In game notice today in regards to this.

I can say that this has at least scared off enough people to make the forest a dangerous place again.

Freezing is not gamebreaking. Dealing 950k passive DPS is. Compare this to an Onyx Apple using Nightlord at around 100k active DPS.

Well we're not Nexon. We're not supposed to figure out whether they've meant to implement it or not. Even now, what's taking them so long? Changing a single flag to make it a boss and disable every unbalanced skill. And with my experience with pservers, they don't even have to patch in order to implement that.

The general assumption is that Nexon left it without boss flagged because it would then be stunnable and freezable and whatnot. What they didn't think about, is that it would then be able to poison and kill in 40 seconds, or you can shadow web it, and it would be dead after 31 hits. Now, they are trying to figure out (I would assume they have a theory on how to do this) how to make it stunnable, and not poison/web-able.
