I don't think it was ever intended for an attacker and a bishop splitting a map to be the best exp in the game. This is a problem because many people in the past refused to party without HS.
The game allows for parties of up to 6 so it would make more sense that the best experience gain should come from a party of that size.
KMS is also planning a rebalancing patch for January 2010. That might help to fix the problems when it reaches other versions.

You could always try Grim Phantom Watches.
Get used to Himes no longer being ridiculous experience. If more of Zipangu ever reaches GMS, Himes will become completely untrainable. In MSEA, Himes cause various status effects including stun.

Maybe this marks the return of big parties splitting a map like vikings and gobies pre-4th job.

maybe if there was a map big enough to do this on sure.... liek he strongest monsters with a large map even close to this can easily be killed by liek 2 150+ chars (obvlion maps) maybe if they came out with a Dual-style map with like 2 bajillion spawn on it with enough room and spawn it would work
the most i can see is like 2 people splitting the map with somoene HSing mayyyyybe 3 people if theyre lower leveled, but this still leaves the problem of what happens with HS, does everyone need to have theyre own HS mule and someone use it for the pt's? do high leveled priests (110++) and lower leveled bishops (120X) do they just sit there and leech even less exp?
and to the few ppl who Msg'd me saying if i dont liek the exp then quit relying on bishops(or arch mages) to gain your levels... thats ridilicious... the bishops are getting better exp with us there also (yes i asked some) so ya.. just Lrn2Maple and how it all works it benefits BOTH people.

Gobies with my Marauder GF? Crap exp, even if I hit all Gobies.
All used to be nice exp for me, now it's horrible. I'm a SUPPORT class, I don't attack, and we have a formula where attackers get the exp.
The most realible thing I've found is soloing Himes or raping Galloperas with Shining Ray, but that's a 1 in a 50 chance to get a map for myself.
B> Leech... oh, wait...
This is exactly what I was afraid of... Nobody LISTENS to the priests or former priests, or GOD FORBID actually tries to play one before saying "oh yeah, you're fine".
BombsAway Wrote:It's funny to see priests complaining (rightfully so, even) about how this negatively affects them since bishops were one of the main reasons the nerf happened. Ah well, it's still beautiful to only see a couple of sad and lonely smega's b> leech a day now.
o.O I fail to find this funny, since the HS cap not being removed hurts bishops, too.
For what it's worth, I was against this change from the beginning, because all it does is completely imbalance a class that is hard enough to level to 4th... and yes, I said HARD. %/hour is not everything. First, you have to find a party, then you have to learn to Hime which is NOT easy especially when you are fresh from the low-level places like H/Voodoos and MP3. And yeah, with a great party, you might get 30%/hour on 1x, but you'll die a few times in that hour every time you lag at all, since you're 2hkoed for most of the time you train there. And by the way, that great party? It's not one where you're doing 50% or more of the damage, and NOT one where you're the same level as the attacker... because priests kill very, very slowly for 3rd jobbers, because SR is barely better than Heal at all... And attackers don't want equal-or-higher level priests because "they leech too much".
Of course, many of those reasons are changed now. (Like the level of the priest doesn't matter because of the HS cap.)
Stereo Wrote:[color=#a000e0]More on Topic:
I heard a lot of people say something about adding an inactive party member and an hsmule and it would actually give you more exp than just soloing. Is there any truth to this? Or is that what the cap that wasn't removed about?
Uh, yeah.
Party: Me, 161 bishop, and a 155 archmage. We normally train together. It went well, better than with turkeys, but hard to compare to before turkeys since he started 100% 2hkoing since then, and we both had leveled a lot. He had to make a phone call, so I soloed for a while. After immediately realizing that HS wasn't changed to 150% solo and my solo exp is still much ickier than partying, I asked him to come in and leech to give me full HS. Then he left again and I SSed the solo exp. (Since it's hard to SS the exp gains when using Gen, I used AR on a Skelosaurus for these SSes.)
Results:
This makes no sense. I get MORE exp with a 155 leecher because of the party bonus exp and the HS cap...
B> change to HS cap, if they're not going to change the formula again. My class is supposed to want to party, but... this is insane. I party for the spawn increase, and the spawn increase is what helps me get more exp... Or at least, it should. o.O

That cap is... odd.
110% cap on base exp, but you then get the 10% party bonus anyway. I'll have to revise my earlier posts.
1 person, 1 HS mule (non-leeching)
110% exp per kill.
1 person, 1 HS mule (leeching) / or, alternatively, 1 Bishop, 1 leecher
121% exp per kill
2 people
88% exp per own kill, 22% per party member kill
2 people, 1 HS mule (non-leeching)
121% exp per own kill, 33% per party member kill
2 people, 1 HS mule (leeching)
121% exp per own kill, 25.53% per party member kill.
@ the Priests complaining about exp at Himes with a DK... I'd like to hear what %/hour you're gaining with the current exp splits. Cause my 9x DK is getting 60%/hour... I would be very much surprised if you were getting less than 25-30%/hr.

121% exp per own kill, 24.42% per party member kill. Well at least that doesn't hurt 2-attacker parties as much. But... isn't it weird that they actually almost encourage leeching, even if it's slower, because you get better exp with someone in your party than without? No reason to go into the CS when you afk for a little bit in your party, either. This is weird. B> no cap

Starting to think HS is unbalanced with the new party split...
If it maxed at 1.1x for your own kills (always, not just solo) and 1.5x for party members kills there wouldn't be this kind of issue.

But then isn't that a lot less incentive for bishops to party, even though everyone else will want them...?
Forgive me for being slow... Nexon has fried my brain with this one.

Honestly, we need less bishops in the game, not more. The bishop to other job ratio is almost as bad as the priest to commoner ratio in medieval Spain, or the lawyer to other professions ratio in the USA.
I do have to admit, the formula did screw up partying priests at places like Dreamy Ghosts or Jr. Newties. But when I did my stint as a priest, I didn't mind soloing at Grim Phantom Watches, which are completely outdated nowadays, so soloing isn't a lost option.
Galloperas with max shining ray doesn't seem so bad, and hopefully there will be less leechers there due to the new formula, so priests can actually train there instead of being a helpless rope-hugger.

Thanks for the numbers this was exactly what I was looking for. I can imagine without the cap these numbers getting even more crazy.
I'm gonna have to find a safe spot in 04 to afk a leechmule (lol)
@Goals: Leveling 2 chars at once is only the most efficient way of doing if you still care about the levels on your mages. Personally I stopped caring about mage lvls a while ago so the 10m/hr leeching paled in comparison to the 12.5m/hr I could grab solo (1x) -- Considering the changes it's now closer to 7m/hr leeching, so I guess it's a matter of what you are trying to accomplish, are you using the mages as leech providers or do you care about leveling them still.

Soloing himes with a few HP equips (mainly just gloves/medal/shield maybe) to achieve enough HP is good as well.
You also use little to no pots without MG, just learn how to -> get hit heal SR heal, get hit heal SR heal etc.
It's time priest became a job that requires skill again. I guess most of the new priests never heard of the non-MG 2 hit-KO SR method =P
OR adding elemental resist early for DTs/MDTs/grims

Yeah, thank god for Gallos, nothing like that was around when I was a priest. Or heck, MP3 and Mr. Anchors, for that matter!
Wonder if this means priests will learn the value of the HP equip again and start soloing in deep Ludi? Wait nvm... the exp sucks compared to what a physical attacker can get at all these newfangled training spots soloing...
Still though... it's very sad when the one real party support class in MS is reduced to soloing at spots that were slow 2 years ago... While everyone else gets their Windraiders, their Himes, their Newt parties with non-leeching HS mules. It seems just unfair that your class is crippled when you can't find a party, and you work just as hard as the rest of the party in many cases, yet your party exp gains are less than others' are solo.
I'd like to hear some priest Himes exp quotes too. I got maybe 12%/hour on 1x partying at Himes by my 11x, on the new curve, but the old (non-damage based) exp formula... Which is decent, but it's a heck ton of work. (You can't chat, at all, at least if you don't use MG. If you do use MG, you spend more in pots than I do now at Skeles spamming Gen...) At least the HS cap might make attackers not discriminate against higher leveled priests for leeching too much exp?
Can someone remind me what other versions did with HS with this change? Is the cap weird like this in KMS and MSEA?

While it's true that clerics and priests can train solo (especially if they adopt a suitable build), I think it's a sad loss of diversity in the game. It makes priests into "Mage(Holy)". Just another mage class, with a different element. Ho hum.
It would be a shame to lose that unique function, the party priest, for just another attacker (and a weak one, at that), just because Nexon couldn't figure out a way to reward a non-killing contribution to party success.

wat
I've played Bishops and I own a Priest, and they are one of the easiest classes to play in the game. Other classes have to worry about potions at Himes. I play on a very shitty computer that gets me killed like 25% of the time as Zak's third body spawns and I don't have issues with dying at Himes. My Corsair probably dies more often than my Priest.
SR is about as powerful as Explosion without an Ele Wand and with Galloperas Priests have a 50% elemental advantage at one of the best 3rd job training spots in the game. It's not that bad.

2 second lag at Himes - Priest dies - 10% lost. Here you go, the hour that you've been training has gone for nothing.

This new exp formula discourages partying.
They really should do it like trickster and have it a slight boost if you party with others.
Secondly, heres a solution: Put AoE's a slight cooldown ALONG with the old party exp formula.
not really you still training faster by partying
