Maple auto-minimizing?
#1
Has anyone else had a problem with MapleStory automatically minimizing at random times since the recent patch? So far it's happened on both mine and my boyfriend's laptop. I don't think it has anything to do with me typing anything cause it happened once when I was just sitting there, not typing anything or doing anything. I currently run 32-bit Vista and my boyfriend has 64-bit Vista. We also both have AVG, so I'm wondering if that might have had an affect on it considering Maple's current issue with them?

I am thinking it may be AVG. I need to confirm though, because AVG gave me a notice about AVG 9.0 but I did not bother downloading it because I was lazy. However, after getting past my laziness, I finally downloaded AVG 9.0, and that is when the random auto-minimisations started to occur.

On the other hand, I think it is also Vista that is the problem too, I have also have AVG 9.0 on my desktop with Windows XP, but Maple has never auto-minimised on there before, so I will need to test this by reinstalling an older version of AVG on my laptop Vista.

This happened to my friend on Windows XP as well. AVG 9.0 has been identified as the culprit - he reinstalled AVG 8.5 and the problem went away.
The problem seems to be some new watchdog function in AVG 9.0, he said he will try disabling only that, but idk what came of it.

Why do people even use AVG? It's not even worth the $0 it cost. It never detects any real malware, it takes a buttload of system resources, it's extremely buggy and it detects practically EVERYTHING safe as a virus.

Its name is short and easy to type. After all you can easily use one hand to type it. That's my guess.

Once I upgraded to 9.0 it started happening also. I've been closing AVG while I'm on Maple and haven't had the problem occur since. I guess I'll have to go back to using an older version or find another program. Thanks for your input guys Blush

Then what program do you suggest we use instead?

EDIT: Never mind, I found a thread.

I have had the same problem since last sc. Was happy when I saw the AVG 9 solution, but after uninstalling AVG and installing F-secure instead,
And reinstalling MS the problem is still there??? I can run ms in windowed mode but it still freezes now and then and it looks like a super fast
pop up near the clock/date area. No chance to see what it says, after 2-3 sec game is normal again for a few minutes. Any other ideas?
