I've been reading up on the two, and the only progress I've made is getting even more confused and more indecisive about which I should max first. What're the pros and cons of getting each first? =/

Fire Strike - good mob skill, gives you more 1v1 attacking ability
Fire Curtain - misting is fast as hell for F/Ps, way better to mist monsters and kill them in 1 hit than attack them.
Fire Strike is a more legitimate build than Explosion first though, since it's actually a decent mob skill.

I've already made my whole skill build and I chose Fire Strike first. Fire Curtain may be great against fire-weak mobs, but if Fire Strike can hit multiple monsters just as well and have a ton of power, I'd go with that. In my build I did Fire Curtain right after, so...

Fire Curtain allows for rediculously fast training, like poison mist. By putting points into that first, you'll train a lot faster.

Can't you use Elemental Reset with Fire Curtain? That way, you don't have to rely on fire-weak mobs.

All elemental reset does is make your attacks neutral. So, you don't need to worry if the mob is strong to fire.

Monster weakness is irrelevant when you're Curtaining. It's about finding the highest exp monster you can hit and getting a good pattern going.

I might just do Strike first. It's pretty darn good, and will let me train at a lot of places efficiently. I won't feel like a channel hog the way I would on a Curtain build. Then again, I do like the sound of fast leveling :/
I want to Nightshadow with Fire Strike One of the things I like about the Strike build is that I can train in basically the same spots as my Bucc did: Blue Kents, Typhs, Elders, and Himes (not sure on pot costs). All probably being faster than my Bucc was as a Marauder. Aren't all Memories fire weak, too? Sounds like a lot of spots I could use. Also, Fire Strike first lets you boss earlier (kind of).
I guess I'm undecided as well *high-five*

Interesting, but probably retarded compared to curtaining at skele MD.

I'm going to say this, as I said before in another thread.
Curtain is basically win.
A good friend of mine on kMS went curtain first, right out of 3rd job he went to blue kents.
He did have good equips, but none the less he was still able to get almost a level an hour or less there at 7x.
Fire Strike is only going to give you good training on flat maps, when I dont see much of that can beat that EXP from blue kents.

You're not guaranteed to land in the same room curtaining in the MD, are you? I've landed in misted MD's before. Curtaining is still faster, I admit, but to quote you somewhat, there's something called fun. Most games try to incorporate it somewhere
And yeah, I've been itching to know how it would be at Typhs with a Blaze.

No, i'm not, that's why i won't leave. If curtaining + reset works in a place like, oh i don't know, CGs, i would totally dual or even triple channel there, but until that's confirmed...
Misting/curtaining + leveling fast as hell is fun as hell.

I guess it would take 40 seconds to fully rotate.
I'm scared of trying to do that at CG's. If I cast Curtain on one when it's in range it might get hit and seal me :/
Then again, that does sound very smexy
And you're making a Blaze?

Probably not, but i could just strike them to death since i'll have both by the time i'd skele ANYWAY.

No i'm not.
You sure it wouldn't? I think it would 0.0 The time you save not CCing sounds kind of nice, too.

I think it does,
another kMS FW went to squids.
Though I don't know if squids are fire resistant,
just assuming they are. o3o

They are Fire resistant, yeah. Elemental Reset removes the element from an attack. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Let's just assume it does

I really think that Fire Curtain is much better. Strike is pretty strong and isn't a bad option, but Fire Curtain is easily the fastest training and only starts to slow down when Meteo comes in and replaces it.
That guy is getting 6.5m exp per hour, which is just insane for misting. Sure, you wouldn't be able to get there without a teleport rock/family teleport, but even the blue monks could be trained at normally starting at 101 (right?), and would still give 3.7m exp (assuming you kill at the same rate), and would burn almost no pots.

Would a Blaze Wizard be able to hit those all that often, though? 6.5m sounds like pretty insane exp for soloing in 3rd job. I only get 7m/hr at Oblivion 2 on my 15x Corsair >_>

Probably, in the 10x's. Don't Mages have really good hit-ratios? My 8x IL friend was hitting HH 100% in 8x Then again, doesn't the poison weakness work more for FPs?
I'm thinking our best spot is skeles, and as Steve said, maybe CG's if we can reset curtain and hit them 100%.
I'm doing Curtain now because I won't have much time to train during weekdays with school.
