At first I was satisfied messing around with thunder bolt, training was fun and quick. Then I got to 3rd job, went through the hell levels without decent level IS, and had fun with the huge range of maxed IS later on, and then maxed amp and got an e wand 3, which boosted my damage drastically. But now it gets really, really, really boring, all I do is spam IS, and most likely when I get to 4th job I'll be spamming blizzard...there's nothing to looking forward for, main skills are all maxed and damage improvement every level is so little. And most importantly, my bossing damage really blows..
So my fellow mages/AMs, what is the thing that keep you playing/training? Need some motivation

You don't HAVE to spam Blizz in 4th, you can go the Combo/CL/Bossing route, which is IMO a lot more fun if less fast. You'd still train at about the rate of non-ulting classes, so you wouldn't be too bad off.

My motivation lies in the higher I go, the more bossing I can do. That's what brought me up so far.

Ranks was half the reason why I kept playing. Other half was BL.

4th job skills are fun. It's awesome to make a big mob with CL and take them all down, one by one.

Then play to have fun instead of grinding? Hell, i've got like 3 levels and quite a few monster cards this week just killing random 4x-6x monsters on 1x and finishing all those low level quests I neglected to do.

Lately I've been motivated by my friends, both old and new, as I'm finally able to do more fun things with them. A small group of us has been going to Papulatus every few nights (Pally, Bishop, Marksman, me and another I/L AM) and it's a lot of fun for me because I can finally survive the stupid thing—thanks mostly to our pro healer who doesn't let us die when dispelled.
Also I met some new friends recently and we have lots of fun training together (skeles parties FTW, even if I'm sniping the top level with Blizzard like a coward) or just chatting. Maybe it hasn't motivated me to get 10 levels in a week or anything, but I look forward to logging in a lot more than I did six months ago.
So right now, I guess it's the social aspect of the game that keeps me going, even though I'm not the most social of people. I also like getting new skills, hunting bosses like HH, helping friends do quests, and other stuff.

I'm beginning to lose interest too, but with one more level to 190, and then 10 after that, what's the point of stopping?
