mp eater and monster mp
#1
So..what what happen if you "ate" all of a monster's mp? Is it still able to use skills? Maxed mp eater eats 40%, just 3times the monster will be out of mp, no matter how much mp it has since it's % based.

I did a test with Y&P, with my fail lv3 eater, I managed to eat it's mp 5times, whcih should be over its total mp since it eats 23% everytime, but it kept attacking using the earth quake attack. How ever, the Y&P seemed to walk around for about a sec after the 6th, 7th, 8th... mp eater, so I think mp eater does prevent monsters from attacking when the mp reaches 0, but their mp recovers too fast that it's doesn't really do anything.

So does anyone know how exactly it works? Just wanna know if a group of mages can keep a monster or even boss from attacking

Max MP Eater eats 40% of the damage you do.

Description: Soak up an enemy's MP after every magic attack. But if its MP reaches 0, no more.

Pretty much says it, I guess.

Mmmm..even then, a Skelosaurus only have 250mp, which you can drain out completely by just hitting 700 damage. Even most bosses only have a few Ks of mp. So my question remains, is it possible to keep a monster/boss unable to use skill by mp eating it?

The actual in game description is: Absorbs the enemy's mp when attacking with magic skills, until it reaches 0.

Doesn't say much really.

Edit: talking about the description, I just see it also says "absorb 23% of the enemy's MAX mp", so it's either another false description, or it absorbs the monster's MAX mp by % as I thought.

Some enemies stop attacking on their own so it's hard to be sure. I think Death Teddies will. Maybe monster matk uses MP? Yeti stomp is a physical attack so it might not.

I think I should do more experiments on different monsters, but it's kinda hard with 13% success rate.

So anyone with maxed mp eater wanna try it out? Or has anyone already done this?

Some monsters don't use MP when attacking. Or they only use 1 or 3 or something incredibly low.

In the case of YnP, they don't use MP to attack.

Oh, and don't bother testing it on bosses (no idea if you can MP eater those peepz), as most of them regenerate their MP in ridiculous proportions.

All mage boss run, record how many times boss uses skill. All non-mage boss run, same time interval, record. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Compare. Repeat again. Compare.

Mp eater doesn't work on bosses anyways. Otherwise, magicians would barely have to use mp potions.

Figured as much, although I would have imagined Zekus not being able to do anything instead if there were 30 Mages xD

Oh nose, the point of this thread is gone Eek

Okay I was going to go to fire brands and decided to do some test when I see a bunch of stormbreakers in the lower ascent.

They are immune to lightning, so my thunder bolt does only 1 damage. I thunder bolted 3 of them for a while, they could still use their skill, and then I attacked them for another while, and they couldn't cast their skill anymore. Also they don't seem to recover their mp, I waited like a minute or 2 and they still couldn't use skill.

is there anyone that can compare max mp eater to level 3 eater? a long time ago when i was first making my fire/poison mage i skipped it in favor of maxing both fire arrow and poison brace. they said it would take a very long time just to save even a mil in pots. is this still true with the new really high level monsters and meteor shower attacks?

I did not start rising mp eater till recently(I think started from lv108), and now it's 15. There's big difference in success rate, but the amount of the mp eaten is highly dependent on monster's max mp. And sadly, most, i mean 99.99% of the mobs out there have a very low amount of mp, jr. newt has 200, even skele have only 240. Transform those into numbers you get 80 per jr newt, and 96 per skele with maxed mp eater. This could be great if you are sniping with IS, but if you are constantly/often being hit, it's pointless. And ultimates just cost too much for mp eater to help. If you hit 10 skeles normally, 3 mp eater would work, and that's only 288 mp, which is really nothing.

Ultimates don't trigger MP Eater, if I recall.

And I always thought it was based on a percentage of the monster's MP, not your damage o_o Drain is damage.

I believe mp eater can only activate once per attack, regardless of the number of mobs.

They do.

Some odd stuff I found..

1) Yes it can only be activated once per attack, regardless of mobs hit >.<
2) However the activate rate does stack
3) It only absorbs half of what the description says, this at least apply to jr newtie(200mp) and skele(240mp). I only absorbs 40mp per activation from jr newtie and 48mp from skele instead of 80 and 96.
