nvidia 7100

Ok well as the title suggest it's about my graphics card a nVidia Geforce 7100, 630i , Running a DirectX10 that came with Vista, my C++ is updated all the way to the latest one. Yet when playing maplestory , the background movements and everything just gets so blurred, I checked my FPS thru xFire and it shows im running at a measly 27 FPS, I'm already disabled Aero Theme in Vista, and assured i have no viruses. and clean my computer weekly. Does anyone know a way I can simple increase my FPS? Please I need help! =(

Update drivers? :f6: Lower graphics to the minimum in game?

I've updated the driver all the way to the latest already. I've tried lowering the graphics all the way and it just ends up adding about 2 more FPS.

Window mode helps. I've also found that the lowest setting actually has more lag than the 2nd lowest.

1. Try to run setup.exe in your maplestory folder, to check if maplestory has the correct refresh rate selected (60hertz for LCD Screens).

2. Did Maplestory -EVER- run smooth on that pc? If not, it might be because of the IGP graphics chip that shares system memory (instead of dedicated high speed memory on a graphics card) for frame buffering for gaming, resulting in low FPS...

I'll try running in window mode and see if that helps. And I've run the setup.exe before and it sets it to 85Hertz which is what I have it set to on my Nvidia control panel, (Not a LCD screen) It did come with a LCD screen but im using an older monitor not to old. bout a year or two older. I don't remember it ever running smooth. but my brother is also using a nvidia 7100 same as mine and he doesnt get lag. Mines integrated though, his isnt.. He said he changed the settings on the nvidia control panel but he since has changed his graphics card and doesnt remember what he had the nvidia 7100 settings at maybe its that? But i wouldnt know what to turn off or on on it..

Btw, if your brother replaced his graphics card, can't you use his old 7100 one (with most likely uses dedicated video memory)?

I'm not sure if this applies at all, but I had a similar problem with my Nvidia 6150SE and when I installed Omega Drivers, the problem was much less severe. But, I wouldn't recommend this until all other possibilities have been exhausted (considering you would be likely downgrading from Forceware 185.85 to 169.25). As for the IGP being the problem, I doubt it has worse performance then my laptop's Intel GMA 950 - which can keep MS at 30-60 FPS.

His did use dedicated video memory but he sold it to his friend before he knew i had the problem lol. Cause i just got this computer not to long ago.. =/ Bad timing huh? X_X

Well just so you know the 7100 is not that good. Try downloading drivers from Nvidia.com and see if it helps.

I've already updated my driver completely to the latest date at Nvidia you cant just download any driver it has to be for your series mine being the 7 series.. when i updated to the latest it didnt help one bit.

I would try If I could find the download, the only download I found for SmartFan is a for XP, Windows 9 and older verions, im Running on Vista SP1
And Im sure my CPU Is NOT overheating, my computer is silent as ever. It's never hot. If my CPU was overheating im sure i would have serious problems..

Edit : I searched around and it's called SpeedFan not SmartFan .. Downloading it now. Doesn't hurt trying. Installed and running my CPU is at 40C which im sure isnt overheating.

I just don't know what to do, this is irritating I meet WAY over the recommended settings to play I just hope someone who knows how to fix this FPS lag stumbles upon this thread.. =( I wanna play but I just can't with the way it runs it's so hard on my eyes T-T!!

Buy the cheapest (PCI-Express I presume since it's a new PC?) nVidia video-card with DEDICATED video memory for like 50 bucks at your local PC shop, plug it in, and you're done...

I have 3GB, I've thought about changing to XP.. and adding Ram to lol.

You really shouldn't be lagging on anything 2D, even with a weak GPU like that.

The Maplestory core engine is extremely poor written for a 2D game.
It massively relies on your videocard memory capacity and speed, and if you don't have enough dedicated videomemory (or none is this case), it starts using your (zzzzzlow) system RAM as well for texture/framebuffering...

The GPU speed doesn't really have anything to do with this. See it like a pro-racecar with an ultra tiny exhaust pipe... that car is not gonna win you anything, no matter how powerfull that motor is...
