First, I'd check if any of my add-ons are causing my browser from seeing the animation. If that doesn't work, then I open up the page on another browser and see if that works, which it usually does.[/COLOR]

Which browsers have you tried apart from your main browser? Internet Explorer, Konqueror, Dillo, Lynx, Links2, Galeon, Mosaic, probably others I forgot (what was IBM's called?)

Why did you choose to not use any other web-browser? Most of the ones I listed are either old and outdated or lack features I want. (Granted, some are designed to be lightweight (Dillo and the text-mode ones), so lack of features is intentional there. I run Linux most of the time, so Firefox is the best choice for me.

Download a program/image-reader which manages to read it? Most likely choice; I often have this problem when setting up a new system, because Flash or whatever isn't installed or I forgot to compile in support for something.

Download or use another web-browser in order to watch the animation? Probably not, unless it's required for work or something. Web content should work in all browsers, so if it doesn't work (or can't be made to work easily) I ignore it.

GIFs have no alpha channel, thus can't have transparency. They have the possibility for no-data though (as in, background-colour).

Are you bothered by the GIF-file's non-transparency while browsing the Internet or while making an animation? I don't make animations and the "background color" of animated gif's is usually good enough.

Anything else you want to comment? Having a better animated image standard would be a Good Thing

AOL is purely laughable. I only used it because my mom has this fascination with it. IE has gotten better I suppose, but Firefox loads sites a lot quicker.

I use Firefox. For the small number of sites that do not support it, I use Explorer, but I have found that it is slower and less versatile, so I am not really enthused by it.

GIFs have no alpha channel, thus can't have transparency. They have the possibility for no-data though (as in, background-colour).

In addition, one of the colors in the palette can optionally be set as fully transparent. A transparent pixel takes on the color of the pixel in the same positions from the background, which may have been determined by a previous frame of animation.

It may not be an alpha channel as with PNG, TIFF, and others, but I thought I remembered GIF supporting that in some way. Looks like I may have been halfway right, even if it's a sort of half-assed transparency.

Internet Explorer - I tend to have trouble with it freezing up and crashing. Also, I got pressured into not using it by other people.
Chrome - It's got one of those worst user interfaces out of anything. It's as if they were TRYING to make it bad.

If I hear there is a really good web browser out, I guess I might try it. Not likely though, I like firefox.

Why did you choose to not use any other web-browser? IE was always laggy for no reason. Opera would've been my go to choice if anything unexpected happens to Firefox, but all in all, I preferred Firefox's add-ons and the UI's simplicity. GC was not really my style, didn't get very used to its features.
