Suggestions for the Pirate section
#1
Could a couple experienced-Pirate(s) work on a "Where to train at XX level" guide? They're very similar to Assassins, from what I noticed (well, from playing my Gunslinger Pirate...) .

Also, slightly off-topic,
Whoever plays a GunSlinger/Corsair/Captain, can you guys post your 2nd and 3rd job builds that you're currently using in this thread? I just want to take a look at a couple builds so I can experiment with my own build later on, and have a good idea of what I'm doing. I find Corsairs to be rather fun, they remind me of my Night Lord, but with less agility-movement, and yet, Corsairs fires a lot faster. +.+ <3

I found the training-spot thread, sorry about that, a faulty error on my part. However, I'd still like to see everybody's GunSlinger / Outlaw / Corsair builds! =D

Gonna just rattle off what I did in order, don't feel like sorting out the levels

30: 1 invis shot
5 mastery
6 booster
19 mastery
max invis
1 grenade somewhere around here (lulz+luring)
wings+recoil, don't remember the order
max fake
max booster
that last mastery point
11 grenade

70:Max burst
1 gaviota, 1 octo, 1 homing (lulz, mostly)
25 ice
max flame (currently lvl92, in the middle of this)
max octo
26 ice
15 gaviota
max homing

I don't think I missed anything Goggleemoticon
If it matters, and it might, I've been training in CWK since my low 60s

Cant really recal the exact lvls and numbers, so excuse my math e.e

30~37 Max Invis
~ Max Mastery
~ Booster to lvl 6
~ Wings to lvl 5
~ Recoil to lvl 5
~ Wings to lvl 10 (Max)
~ Recoil to lvl 20 (Max)
~ Booster to lvl 20 (Max)
~ Grenade to lvl 11

As for my Outlaw build, I plan to start like this

70 - 1 burst fire
71 - 2 Burst Fire - 1 Splitter
72~77 Max busrt Fire

Im still debating o whether to use max splitter for Training at Kents and octos, or putting up octopus for training at newts e.e

You seem to be attracted to whimpy HP characters. Your poor DK is crying right now.

yeah Khoi, there's still time to turn back and make a character you can survive on

Ew, we're nothing like NLs. The hermit similarity ends mid-3rd job.

There's not too much creativity you can have with 2nd and 3rd job builds. It's pretty clear that Grenade is the least useful skill in the 2nd job book, and the 4th job pre-reqs force your 3rd job build to be either 26/max Flame or max Gav. My build looks almost just like the above builds:

30: 1 Invis
-19 Mastery
-6 Booster
-Max Invis
-5 Wings
-Max Recoil
-1 Grenade for lols
-Max Wings
-Max Blank
-Max Mastery
-Max Booster
-11 Grenade

70: 1 Burst Fire
-Max Burst Fire
-13 Ice
-1 Gav
-Max Octo
-26 Ice
-1 Homing
-Max Flame
-15 Gav
-Max Homing

120: E. Boost, Wrath, Air Strike
121: Ship, 2 Cannon
122: 5 Cannon
123: 8 Cannon
124: 11 Cannon
125: 12 Cannon, 2 Torpedo
126-131: Max Cannon

Currently a few % shy of 127. Not sure what I plan to do after but it's most likely

132: 2 Air Strike, 1 Hypnotize, 1 Bullseye
133-135: 11 Air Strike
136-138: 11 Torpedo
139: 12 Air Strike, 12 Torpedo, 1 Rapid Fire
140-145: Max Air Strike
146-151: Max Torpedo
152-157: 19 Bullseye
158: Max Bullseye, 3 Rapid Fire
159-167: Max Rapid Fire

and that's as far as I've planned it.

my second job build went like this:

1 invisible shot
max mastery
max invisible shot
6 booster
5 wings
max backstep shot
max wings
max fake shot
max booster
11 grenade

my third job build doesn't really apply for gMS anymore unless you plan to stick it out with newties from 9x+, I guess? that's what people tell me anyway.. but here it is:

max triple fire
21 octo
21 cooling effect
max octo
max gaviota
max cooling effect
max homing
11 fire burner

and for fourth job this is what I've done / am going to do:

120 - 1 battleship, 1 octo, 1 air strike
121 - 3 cannon
122 - 3 cannon
123 - 2 cannon, 1 rapid fire
124 - 3 cannon
125 - 3 cannon
126 - 2 cannon, 1 torpedo

131 - max cannon, 1 elemental amp, 1 advanced homing

max advanced homing
max torpedo
max rapid fire
max air strike

from there, I dunno. I'll be maxing battleship sometime after 131 and before max air strike.. basically just playing it by ear after max advanced homing, really.

& no, I don't have level 1 elemental amplification yet. I rarely even use cooling effect at newties anymore, so I see no point in getting it until I need it for skelegons.

Hmm, alright, guys. Thanks for the idea, I'm maxing out both Ice Splitter and Flamethrower, I'll just put less points into Homing\ and Gaviota (capping at 15).

don't put less points into homing. you need level 30 homing to get advanced homing. and you need level 15 gaviota for air strike.

No, don't put less points into Homing, you need to max in order to use advanced homig D:

Where on the Newtie map do you train? I take either
the top (1 jr on left, two nests on right)
or center of the middle (two jrs on left, nest and jr on right) platform
or the bottom right corner (nest and two jrs to left, occasionally have time to move and kill the far left nest, or Air Strike if no one is midding)

There's at least two Newts that can hit you from all of those positions, so the 4 second freeze really helps. It lets you shoot 2 more times while they're frozen. Unless you're strong enough to 2hko them consistently already, which would be insane o_o

fucked up my build:

1 invis
5 mastery
6 booster
1 blank (lol.)
-> 13 mastery
-> 15 invis
-> 19 mastery
-> max invis
5 float
1 recoil

...and thats where i am. id say you can get away with 17 mastery, but really, i feel like slingers suck hard until lvl ~47 when you can max the attacks and stability and finally start on recoil. and i only hit 47 last night so i havent had time to play around with recoil while grinding.

up next ill probably follow the cookie cutter with some booster a bit earlier than the build recommends, i like timers longer than 1 min. not thinking about 3rd yet, just getting thru 2nd.

Ummm 2nd job I can't even remember what I did. I know I maxed out invisible and got like 5 booster before I actually had mastery maxed (I left it at like lvl 10 for a while and maxed it after invisi and booster).

3rd job, im just adding skills as I need them for training. There's not really a set build i'm following. Maxed burst fire first of course. I'm training at that new stormbreakers map in cwk pq, so I had got ice splitter to the level it hits 4 monsters, and I have gaviota at lvl 11 right now. Gaviota is iight here. I haven't gone to snipe newties yet so my octo is still level 1. Maybe when I hit lvl 100 i'll start sniping newties. By then I should have a decent level of octo.

well, newtie parties are hard to find in my time zone on kMS so I'm either always soloing there or training with daniel.. he takes the bottom left and I take the middle left. I kill the first two newties in 4 cannons then air strike the top, remount battleship right before the newties spawn and do it again. when I solo, I just kill the bottom left. with a character AFK to the left of me, distracting newtie aggro, I can kill the first one before it attacks me and kill the second one before the first transforms. I only really use cooling effect when I mess up with a demount.

it may not seem like the best way to do it, but I get about 9% per hour at level 128 and use very few potions.

Saves pots for sure, but once I started 3 hitting them, only killing two felt way too slow. Now that I've started 2 hitting them it just feels ridiculous having to wait for spawn. The only place Air Strike hits more than 3 monsters is one of the places where you have access to 3-4 with Cannon Tongue

I'm only getting about 3.5m exp/hr (about 8.5% at 126) solo though, is your 9%/hr figure solo? Parties can be 5-6m/hr.
Edit: I'll go retest later today, actually. I always solo in the bottom right corner, being able to hit 3 Newties all on one side without having to move = awesome.

I'm never waiting for spawn in the middle, lol. air strike always hits 2-4 monsters at the top (depending on how many nest golems are out), so it works for me.

you edit ninja'd me

the 9%/hour is with daniel killing on the bottom. solo is about 8.5%/hour.

My 3rd job build:

1 Burst Fire
1 octopus
1 gaviota
20 Burst Fire
1 Homing Beacon
26 Ice Splitter
30 Flamethrower
30 Octopus
15 Gaviota
30 Homing Beacon

No regrets at all.
Flamethrower helped me so much, and it's still usefull.
Not as much as in my lower levels but it still helps heaps.
