Steam Summer Sale 2013

The Steam Sale has officially raped my wallet. I am literally out of money until a few friends pay me back and when my money from YouTube goes in, but of course that will be after the sale.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Standard Edition - 2.99$ (Don't remember)
Castle Crashers - 3.74$
Fallout: New Vegas - 2.49$
Fallout 3 - 2.49$
ARMA II: British Armed Forces - 6$
ARMA II: Private Military Company - 6$
Super Meat Boy - 3.74$ or something like that
GTA IV Complete Bundle - 7.49$
Bastion - 2.24$
Borderlands 2 - 10.19$
Dinner Date - Gifted to me o_O
Total: $60.19

For the price of one Xbox 360 or PS3 or Xbox One or PS4 game or PC game brand new, I got all that.
Pretty satisfied. Funny thing is I originally came into this sale wanting only Borderlands 2 and Skyrim. And I still don't have Skyrim. There is no way the highest it's going to go is 40% off. I could have saved 4$ if I wasn't so hasty and bought Arma 2 DLC when it was only 40% off compared to 66% off. It's about time Crysis went on sale, been waiting for those two games to drop in price for who knows how long. I'll probably still get Skyrim from a friend and pay them back once it goes for a bit more off. I would still have some money but I got hit with an eBay fee that I forgot about... ah well I'm happy! Saved so much money.

It is a good time to be a PC gamer.

Got Mark of the Ninja last night and played it for a couple hours. I really like the multiple options of playing. 100% Stealth, 100% fighting, or a mix of both.

These "Steam Trading Cards" are letting me get more games cause I keep selling them all. I've made nearly $15 just from them alone.

I hate the system... not because it sucks or because it's bad, but because I'm already addicted.

I'm a huge sucker for trading cards (played Pokemon when it first came out and then played Yu-Gi-Oh up until recently), so this system is definitely playing to my weakness. I crafted the first Steam Summer Sale 2013 badge the other day, but it has 4 tiers, so I highly doubt I'll be able to make all four by the time the sale ends, which sucks.

Anyways, yesterday I picked up Orcs Must Die 2 for myself and one of my friends to play since we had heard pretty good stuff about it. Was thinking about picking up Alan Wake, too... I beat the game about a year ago on my own 360, but it's definitely a good game, and it's been awhile, plus I never 100%'d it, and I mean... come on, 3 bucks a pretty good title like that? Honestly, it's really a steal.

Forums doesn't always represent the entire actual opinion of the community. If the TF2 SPUF forum was anything to go by, I'd be assuming that TF2 players are whiny brats that hate anything gimmickly OPed, hate the Heavy for being so simple to play, and the Quick-Fix pre-buff was an abomination to all Medic users.

But no, my bad for taking offense to some talentless idiot getting a ton of money off of a broken piece of s'hit when actual talented developers can't get their games on steam because of greenlight, hence cockblocking them from making any serious money on their hard work because steam has such a stranglehold over the pc market.

Except every single person I know whose opinion is valuable to me that has it or has touched it in any way completely agrees with the forum opinion. I have to agree with Lozmaster here.

Barely $60 so far (And I'm positive I've missed a good handful of games are missing from that list)

Can get Torchlight +Torchlight 2 for around $9 total ATM; Anyone care to recommend it to me?

Torchlight 2 is DEFINITELY worth your time if you enjoy that type of game. I found it vastly superior than Diablo 3. Torchlight 1, however, is decent, but TL2 is far superior.

Boobs Story was a C IMO. I mean, I just played Bioshock Infinite beforehand, cut me some slack.

They do have an overarching story, but you really won't miss much by just picking up the second game and not the first. Torchlight 2 is superior to the original in every way. The story isn't that complex either, you really could just read up about anything you don't understand if you truly care that much about the game's story.

I played about an hour of the first Torchlight a while back and put it down. It's a pretty run of the mill Diablo clone and the archaic mechanics are frustrating. I also restarted my character like 3 times because I wanted to respec after either wanting to change my build or accidentally clicking the wrong button. I would just play the 2nd if you're not a diehard fan of the genre.

Torchlight 1 pretty much has no story. Sure it's there, but it's very minor. You really won't be missing anything if you start with TL2.

Add Fallout: New Vegas to my previous list. Now own Torchlight 2 and DYAD. On a side not, I can't recommend Antichamber enough. Catch it while its on sale if you can, I bought it at launch for $20 (I was new to Steam and wasn't aware that they did these huge sales) and don't regret it one bit. Its also the reason I bought Portal and Portal 2, as I would've avoided those games otherwise.


I'm spending like a ton of money atm on this sale but it doesn't bother me too terribly much. Mainly because I know I'll be able to utilize this huge backlog when I get back into the dorms next month. Better to blow $120+ on a Steam sale now for a million something games than blow $500 for the same number of games later. (Or $100 for like, four games VS like 15 of the same quality)
