This makes me sad for the Wii U that i have... I guess I'll probably get the PS4 too

Honestly, people put far too much importance on specs. I guess that's the unavoidable result of the graphics age, where there are so many people who judge a game badly just because the graphics aren't amazing.

Specs? Not many people really care about them directly (otherwise everyone would be pc gamers).

What is a problem is if we end up in 2 years with another wii situation where it isn't possible to port (most) multiplatform games to wii u because its so much weaker than Xbone or PS4.

A lot of people are starting to make direct comparisons between the new Kinect and Orwellian themes. I'm inclined to agree. It's always watching even when the system is turned off, it's patented to direct ads at people for what they are talking about, it can detect emotion and heartbeat, it can understand facial expressions, the system doesn't even work if you don't connect it/it doesn't see anyone/you block the camera with cloth (and it can see through thin objects anyway)...how is this not a Telescreen, again?

For one, it is not hardwired into every wall in your house/every building you enter. There are no thought police on the other end of it (the thought police were able to read your minds at any time if they wanted to so you had to be very careful what you said or thought or did). For a third I don't think it's meaning is to keep watch on you at all times and record what you are doing for Microsoft to see. I know there are some companies like Target that use their video surveillance systems to gain information on people and what they buy and their habits and more than likely that will be the ultimate function of the Kinect 2.0 if it is in fact it's function. Microsoft can make more money out of knowing what you want and selling it to you through a box than through national advertisements probably. The microphone and heat signature part of it does bother me because these things can be hacked/Mirosoft can use them for whatever they want really.

Mind you it is all optional too. You don't have to buy the Xbox One. I thought Microsoft had gone too far in violating privacy laws beforehand with the original Kinect (when it was an option too) but now this seems like a direct violation of all privacy laws if you choose to buy the Xbox One. It will know what you saw and what you do whether or not you want it too. I suggest for those of you who want to buy one get yourselves some sort of tinfoil reflective blanket (they do make them) to prevent heat signatures from being picked up when you are done playing. Maybe making your own soundproof box to place it in after too would be a good idea. Heck, maybe somebody can make some money off these ideas...or maybe I've just over-thinking it and nothing will probably happen to you if you buy an Xbox One at all so long as you don't talk about plotting a terrorist attack or a drug deal in your living room.

Wow I didn't realize there's so much about the PS4 we still don't know. this means there's still chance Sony reveals some stupid characteristic/requirement about it and ends up unappealing like the Xbox one (though I doubt It can get nearly as bad).

My "Xbox" friends are already brainwashed. The day after the announcement of details they were praising how it looked, the name, the "features". I don't get it.

That is a legitimate point, however I've seen people bash exclusives just because they don't look as pretty as some random other game, and bash consoles just because their specs aren't as good as some other console, regardless of games. They don't even take games into consideration half the time.

If the complaint was, "I hate that the Wii U's hardware is so low that Epic won't adapt the Unreal Engine to it," then that's a legitimate complaint, however I've seen, "No Blu-Ray? LOL pomegranateTY CONSOLE IT SUCKS LOL CRAP," even though the Blu-Ray isn't even really all that necessary. Yes, you can't hold as much on it but last I checked Multi-Disc games have always existed on every console with discs, so the Blu-Ray isn't exactly necessary and shouldn't be a point in which to attack the Wii U over.

If it still plays video games way down the road I'm sure people will be ok with having a Telescreen-style device in their homes. I mean, some people have bought the Xbox just for Halo. Now you give them the option to play Halo and search for porn at the same time? I'm sure the same people will be throwing money at their screen to get that sort of functionality as fast as they possibly can. Who cares if anybody is watching lol.

Preorders don't really mean a lot beyond the initial shipment. Going by preorders, wii u was going to be sold out and we all saw how that ended up. I think the internet reaction is probably a better judge of how well this will do in the long run.

Besides that, we still haven't actually seen a ps4, nor do we know a lot of the features/policies that sony is taking. So I think thats more of a contributor as to the low ps4 numbers rather than any sign of xbox success.

So, Microsoft finally clarified several things regarding the XBox One... which is pretty much confirming what everyone feared.

I love how they make assumptions about their system owners before the system is even released. How did they come to this magical conclusion?

I know more than a few people who cannot get close to a 1.5Mbps connection due to their area or costs for such a speed. Sure, in NY, CA, and other high population areas that's nothing, but there are A LOT of areas where that's not feasible. Not only that, I know a few people who don't pay for Internet at all, but rent and play games. So they can't even touch an X1.

With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library.

So how does the East Coast play an X1 when they get hit by hurricanes, which I've heard predictions of at least six major ones are predicted to hit the East Coast this year. Last year's hurricane in my area took out Internet for two weeks, and some people had no power/cable (but had generators so they COULD play their 360 if they wanted to pass the time) for over a month. This concept is completely illogical and completely stupid. The expectation that you will be online at basically all times is absurd, and making your console a gigantic VHS sized paperweight when you cannot get online is even more-so.

The entire third article is basically them trying to stave off the "They're watching us always!" argument, but I wouldn't believe anything they said on that matter. Gonna need an outside testing source to stave off that.

I know a lot of us probably said what I just said (I even might have myself, I don't remember), but that link just kind of made me reiterate it in annoyance. X1 is only not going to be DOA because of their CoD exclusive pomegranate or whatever it is.
