Fire Emblem Awakening [SPOILERS INSIDE]
Most of the side quests are too hard to do the moment you unlock them. Don't worry about them too much.

It's like the game is designed to completely wreck me at times. Chapter 6? Requires you to block off 3 different paths at once. Using Kellam isn't guaranteed victory, because there's mages on all 3 paths. Chapter 7? "Oh hey this doesn't seem too bad- LOOK OUT THERE'S REINFORCEMENTS COMING FROM BEHIND." If I try to push forward to the center of the map someone dies. If I stay at the start point then someone gets fucked by 3 wyvern riders attacking at once. FFFFFFFF.

I hate/love this game.

This happens pretty easily. The Avatar is the most broken character in the game. You can pretty much solo the game with you Avatar and Chrom. And Frederick for some early babying.

Chrom is now my husbando.

Well, kind of. I have two saves now. One where I beat Chapter 7 but lost Sully and Stahl, and one where I'm still stuck on it. I'll try pass it on the save where no one has died, but this stage is so cruel.

During Chapter 7 you need to pay very close attention to the movement range of all the enemies. Make sure to keep one unit that can deal with the Wyvern Rider reinforcements near the back, and make sure to cover your healers/mages from all sides. Bring along Frederick for pair up bonusses, just make sure he has no weapon equipped if you don't want him to leech exp.

Currently grinding skills for my avatar, not sure if I should bother passing Axefaire (or some other male exclusive skill) to Severa.

I was thinking of making my avatar a Dark Mage, since I don't have any of them and already have 2 normal mages. Is this a good idea, or do you get plenty of them later on?

you get two later, one in chapter 7 or 8 iirc. the desert chapter

Hahaha I'm literally the worst.

I didn't realize Grand Tactician was a thing until after I made myself a Myramidon and saved. I only found out on another save file.

On the upside. I am literally overpowered as hell. The highest hit chance enemies had on me for chapter 7 was 30%, and that was an archer. The normal units had 3%

And probably a few Sacrifices....

Dread Fighters make for some powerful characters, they level fast (basic class) and can usually 1hko thanks to aggressor (+10 att on your turn). Brides help you stay alive.

Pay attention to your enemies movement/skills. For example, for that specific chapter, you want frederick to kill the myrimidons, as their speed allows them to double shot everyone on your team. My suggestion is to train your avatar, I prefer defense spec, and try to gain 3+ def/speed. I wouldn't settle for less. But your goal should be to have frederick pretty much go dead center on the map, he'll kill both myra's, and do half damage to the axe wielders. Have your avatar bolt one of them, the other will suicide on you.

tldr;

Fred half damage all axe users, kill all mages/myra's (although the first one can be killed you just have to use chrom to weaken it) make sure the mages don't have vantage.

Huh... i finished the chapter so fast reinforcements did not spawn, and this was on lunatic. Admittedly, I did have all characters at lv20 base class and Donnel at lv20 Hero (thank god for the free renown second seal).

I have to figure out which child to marry my Avatar too. I was going to do Nah (NowixDonnel), then remembered my avatar was female Tongue

I think the general consensus on lunatic is if your avatar is male, marry it to lucina or nah, if its female, marry it to Chrom.

Given how hugely successful Awakening has been, guessing Ike gets the boot for Chrom to takeover. Guess this means no more of, "We like Ike!!" Frown

Marth will probably stay because of Heroes of Light and Shadow.
