Fire Emblem Awakening [SPOILERS INSIDE]
Scaeva Wrote:Chrom and my Avatar are getting kind of overleveled at this point (chapter 6). My Avatar also ended up getting a B support (maybe A, didn't check yet) with Sumia. Still planning on marrying Cordelia ASAP when I get her, though. Sully is still getting RNG screwed like crazy, so I'll probably level her up some other time. Can't do that yet though, because the DLC won't be available until the game is officially released (which will probably be 2 hours from when I post this).

Also, I'm looking for a good Axe user (aside of Cherche which I won't get until chapter 12). Is The Vaike any good? I currently have him provide a STR boost for Lon'qu, and I'm wondering if he's worth using later on.

Be careful, Chrom auto marries whoever has the highest support by chapter 11 @Lozmaster; as well.

Took me a day and a half but I finally got through the paralogue with 3+ def/speed which will make my game a little less retarded down the road. Got to chapter 2 Big Grin RNG was decent with me haha.

Edit:

....Wow I'm incredibly lucky. I beat all 3 chapters with not a single reset and have my avatar at level 13 >_>; he solo'd the entire map for crying out loud.

In terms of his stat caps, Vaike has higher caps on Strength, Speed, Skill, and Res than Cherche if you decide to keep them in their respective classes, plus he has access to Axefaire and Counter. For my first playthrough he turned out pretty good for me, aside from his Res. I paired up Cherche with someone else, but Vaike also makes a good marriage partner for her.

Well I completely blitzkreiged lunatic+, I'm already at chapter 12 LOL.

By the way rescue staffs work on allies as well, even if you can't control them, which is helpful for those "PROTECT THESE DUMB ASSES"

Currently trying to make Donnel x Sully happen (while having Chrom gain a little support points as possible). I'm currently trying to level him in CoY1, but I can't get him more than one kill without him dying (which isn't that big of a deal but I reset anyway) or the allied units snatching all his kills. Also, what's with the low Mt on the throwing weapons in this game? I just got a Short Spear and it only had 5 Mt (Iron Lance has 6!).

It's because of the pairing function, let's say you have donnel and sully paired up, donnel uses a hand axe, at s rank, she has a 70% of duo attacking and following up. Even at a distance attack, she will double with any weapon. This is especially devastating when the partners have high crit ratio's.

That makes sense. To be honest, from the looks of it they didn't do that great of a job balancing Pair Up.

After some fumbling around and using a couple of tonics I managed to get Donnel to Mercenary (reclassed at Lv10). He's also almost up to B with Sully.

I really got a ton of cool stuff from my CoY1 runs so far, including Bolganone, Beaststone+, Spear and Sigurd's Lance. Some of those are going to come in really handy in the next few chapters, and will hopefully allow some characters to catch up with my avatar (which is already a Grandmaster).

EDIT: Just got Anna, Cordelia S support and some other supports. And a much needed Bullion(L).

Awakening reeks of being improperly balanced if you don't want to grind. At least a little. Even just on hard mode, the enemies are far stronger than they have been in past hard modes (Relative to your characters), and everyone seems to get a average of 5-6 points a level instead of 5 being an amazing level up in previous game. The power creep on both sides of the game is pretty annoying. Especially if you want to survive the pineappleing random Reinforcements that appear out of nowhere with barely any notice, and then get to attack immediately. :rage:

That is the absolute worst decision I've ever seen in a strategy game, even more so one with permadeath. Either you have to look up what the reinforcements are going to be and where they spawn, or pray they don't pineapple you over when it happens, throwing any semblance of strategy out the window.

Also: yes, pair up is ridiculously imbalanced, and I take absolutely anything back about being able to do this one without grinding, at least for Donnell. That bastard won't stop dying.

Managed to pull of Chrom x Olivia. I'm glad I'm playing on Casual because some things would just be way to tedious otherwise (Gaius and Tharja had to temporarily sacrifice themselves for the greater good). Now to dance grind like crazy...

I think Cordelia is the best 1st gen character in the game, albeit the avatar. Her skill set up requires no inheritance at all and is completely end game usable.

Sidequest 3. Do you get anything for saving these goddam suicidal villagers. It's no wonder that village turns them away, they're clearly want to die.

The one on the far left gives you an angelic robe, the other two give you garbage, like a pan.

I'm at Chapter 14 now (cleared Sidestories 1 through 4, too). Did a bit of grinding to promote my whole team, so I shouldn't have that much trouble with the next few chapters.

 Team stats

EDIT: Oh wow the Mila Tree is so freaking amazing. I absolutely love the 3d in this game. Being able to just take a second and look at things really makes a huge difference.

EDIT 2: At chapter 19 now. This is going to be so freaking hard. To kill Walhart without any RNG messing with me I need to spend 16000 to forge a Levin Sword (to 15 Mt 95 hit), have two units rally me and then I can just kill him (70 damage, he has 69 HP).

 Most recent team stats

EDIT 3: Decided to get Kjelle and Noire before starting chapter 20. Had to level Gaius and Tharja quite a bit to give Noire Pass and Tomebreaker. Reclassed my avatar into a Dark Knight because I hit Lv20. I'm not sure how I should be feeling about having to use B rank weapons already.

So after blitzkreigen lunatic I spent all day watch game of thrones and FE awakening LOL. I ended up training severna/Cordelia, to max level but then I accidently recruited Inigo without galeforce. So I restarted again from chapter 11, and trained up chrom/inigo this time. I'm going to work on severa/cordelia/Lonqu tonight. I have to find a proper partner for severa, probably one of the kids I won't be using all that much (such as yarne).

How is it kid skills work anyway? I assume it's the ones the parents have, but do the inherit specific ones, all the ones the parents have equipped, or what?

Edit: And is there any reason to *not* just immediately reclass someone once they learn all the skills for that job. Statups are pointless in awakening because everyone can cap everything (In principle anyway).

Kids learn the last skill their parents have equipped when you start the chapter. Chrom's son will always inherit Rightful King and his daughters will always inherit Aether (even if Chrom hasn't learned the skill yet).

You're correct on the stats thing.

Something I found out today is that forged weapons don't show up in the view stats when you're talking to a streetpass team. So it's very likely you think you can handle something and then get slaughtered.

To add onto that, by marrying two characters, although will spawn the ability to get to the chapter, (majority of them passed chapter 15 iirc) does not lock skills until you actually attempt the child chapter. So you can spawn all the kid's paralogues then skill farm them later.

Rightful King + Galeforce Inigo get. Now he shall sit on the bench until the post game.

 Children obtained so far

Chapter 20 is looking more doable after the extra levels from the skill grinding and paralogue/side stories. Still, 3 bosses, reinforcements AND treasure in one (not too large) map...

should have waited if you were gonna bench him, the later you recruit them (meaning, the more leveled the parents are) the better the stats they come with.

Thing is I needed the exp from the enemies. By the time I'm going to use him I'll have EXPonential Growth anyway, so it won't really matter.

Also, according to the EU DLC schedule (http://www.nintendo.co.uk/games/oms/fire...ntent.html) we're getting Golden Gaffe AND Harvest Scramble (aka Harvest of Bonds) this thursday.

Cleared chapter 20, wasn't nearly as hard as I expected (might be because I now have 2 units with Galeforce). Beating the streetpass teams of other people is a lot of fun, too.

Wait What. Aren't the "Harvest Scramble" maps part of the second wave of (Japans) DLC?

Well, whatever, I'm buying it all anyway.

Edit: I guess it makes sense though, it's a low difficulty map, It didn't make that much sense releasing the hardcore 5 star maps towards the end of season one, then jumping to a one star again.
