Fire Emblem Awakening [SPOILERS INSIDE]
The remainder of the free Spotpass content has been announced for NA.

Quote: Fire Emblem Awakening launched on Feb. 4, exclusively on Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL, but bonus content keeps the game play going strong. Fans will continue to look forward to and receive free game content via SpotPass all the way through spring. This new SpotPass content is different from the downloadable content that is currently available through the game's Outrealm Gate. The free SpotPass map available today is called "A Hard Miracle," and follows the story of Fire Emblem Awakening main character Chrom as he encounters a mysterious woman and sets off on a journey with her to rescue a group of kidnapped villagers.

During the next few weeks, more maps will become available through the SpotPass feature. These include "Ghost of Blade" on March 28, a haunted tale about a ghost and the ultimate sacrifice; "The Wellspring of Trust" on April 11, a map full of challenging enemies; and "The Radiant Hero" on April 25, which takes place on an isolated island as Chrom and his allies search for a legendary hero. Players can also look forward to other special items that will be distributed for free via SpotPass, such as special weapons, additional playable characters and bonus challengers for the game's Double Duel multiplayer mode.

It's because nintendo finished these before the game shipped in Japan, I think the spotpass just unlocks the paralogues. You probably don't need to be told, but definitely make sure you play the last one, it gets you something worthwhile.

Accidentally got the reward spoiled for me : proceed at your own risk.

So anyway,Khaniwest, you seem like the expert here, would you say all the DLC is worth getting (at least so far)?

I'm very tempted to put money aside to buy the whole lot, but if most of it's mediocre, I'd rather know before buying eshop cards Tongue (I prefer them to straight out buying credit, with reward schemes and similar, it's cheaper that way).

Edit: One more question! Does Awakening have a support gallery to view supports you've already seen? Or are they generic ones (like radiant dawn?)

It really depends what you're looking for. The golden gaffe and EXPontial are must have's. I don't have the game in front of me cus I'm at work but, off memory;

DLC pack 1:
Marth-Not really necessary, unless you want the character
Roy- Same as marth
Mychaie(or something)- This is a good map for exp training after expontial growth gets too slow, the character is a dark mage, and you also get an "all stat +2 book" which is good for unit's who don't have decent skills.

DLC pack 2: No brainer. You need golden gaffe/expontial growth/Inifinite ragae for the legend/magic weapons.

DLC pack 3: You want the second one at least, it gives you demon fighter which is a good class, essentially a hero but less attack/skill and more defense/resistance. In fact if I recall his resistance is the best in the game.

The first part of this DLC pack gives you a character only if I remember right, I can't remember what he actually was but clearly not worth mentioning. Although the story with it was interesting, not necessary though

That's all I've played with so far, unfortunately I haven't been able to expand on it because I'm desperately trying to get past lunatic+ AGAIN.

And I know how you feel about "overleveling" and how cheap it is, but I ASSURE you, by lunatic mode the game downright fist fu`cks you. By the time you get to chapter 15 you're looking at HOARDES of enemies who are close to max stats, they kind of start off with 1 or 2 stats maxed then FULL OUT max'd. You can get an idea of this after chapter 4 when the monsters spawn. Each single, goddamn unit is level 20, ALL stats maxed, BY CHAPTER 4. Lunatic+ just adds some broken ass skills ON TOP of that.

Awakening does have a support gallery, although some of the supports in the log are a bit disappointing since they're essentially doubles of each other with maybe a few words changed here and there. Third map in DLC Pack 3 might be of interest too since it's supposed to give a Paragon skill manual which doubles exp gain.

Interesting math I found;

Important factor: For Second Seals, use them at Level 10. I know that goes against all logic with Fire Emblem, but trust me. When you reset to level 1, you keep most of the stats you had from Level 10, thus giving you MORE stats. Why Level 10?

a. Most units gain their second skill at level 10. There are units that gain their second skill at level 15 (dancer, manakete, tactician, villager, taguel), but most of those skills aren't that useful Special Dance is useless outside of Dancer, Wyrmsbane is useless outside of fighting, Solidarity is kind of meh, Underdog isn't always useful. Beastbane, taguel's skill, is the only one I'd consider potentially useful.

b. Most importantly: When you use a Second Seal, your unit's internal level is changed. Say you were Level 14 when you used a Second Seal to become a Mercenary? Your level is put through an equation: (Your Level - 1) / 2 = (Answer rounded down)

So...

-(14 - 1) / 2 = 6.5
-6.5 is rounded down to 6.

When you get your new unit, your unit will be level 1, but will have an internal level of 6. What this means is, although your unit is level 1, he/she will gain the same amount of exp as if he/she were level 6. So that when you change classes, you don't level up as fast as you normally would. So ideally, you want to make sure your level is the lowest it can possibly be while still learning the skills you want to learn.

Level 10 is the lowest level you change classes with, so ((10-1) / 2 = 4.5). Your internal level will be level 4, which is far more manageable.

Take note that this isn't required, but it does make your life so much easier as it won't take as long to level your character. The game does however have unlimited EXP, technically so it's not the end of the world if your character is level 20 and using a second seal.

Forgot to mention, paralogue 20 is available as of yesterday. It's a mindblower.

UGH. So goddamn close! I just have to get past chapter 2 and chapter 3 will be a frekin breeze because that's when I get the knight. It's taking me hours of resetting to beat these chapters, it's ridiculous. Why did they remove the soft reset, that was so stupid >_>;

YESSSS BEAT CHAPTER 2. Now to soft reset until I get a reasonable set of skills to fight off. I'm really getting boned by luna/pavise :|. Although I did manage to get a miniature lance, which has frederick with a critical rate of about 40%, then I have my avatar with solidatary stand next to him, it shoots to 50% rate. So half the time I kill two enemies in one turn lol.

I'm hoping I break chapter 3 tonight so I can start my lunatic+ perfect run..

So.Goddam.Close.

I GOT HIT BY A 1% CRITICAL CHANCE. SERIOUSLY!? Almost legit broke my 3ds, I put it down and just screamed like a wild banshee.

I feel like this thread has become an extended blogpost. Not that I mind, as Khaini's masochistic adventures into Lunatic + are very entertaining.

SHUT THE pineapple UP Sad. ANd yes I feel the same way, but pineapple it I like talking about how great this game is

The game definitely is great. Though I don't have the balls to dive into lunatic. Especially since I don't have the dlc.

It's kind of like one piece to be quite honest. Lunatic is the grandline, lunatic+ is like the new world. Really the only DLC you'd need is the DLC 2 to accomplish lunatic/Lunatic+. Everything else is really just bonus.

What really sucks about lunatic+ is the first 4 chapters (including prelogue). After beating it with luck the first time around, I read some people who used different idea's with their avatar. This guy wrote a pretty good guide on a defense spec, but the problem was he depended on the avatar being with chrom a lot. I can't do that because of how I want to do my relationships. (ChromxOlivia). I do like the idea of defense spec though so I went with it. now my avatar can hold it's own just as well as frederick, which isnt saying too much. But it certaintly makes the hammer equipped people who slaughter frederick easier to knock down.

On top of all that what really kills you is luna/vantage/counter. You can deal with everything else, but those 3 skills, depending on the ratio really make or break the game. I mean some chapters I'd get half the map of luna, 3 units with hawkeyes means instant death for any character. Vantage with mages is awful because it's basically instant 12-15 damage. Counter is the worst because it activates if you fight back. So javelin/magic becomes dependent but really aren't the best weapons :/.
