Bot catching monsters, they necessary in GMS?
#21
If we ever get them they will be slightly out dated anyway. There are much better training spots people would bot at than the maps those mosnetrs are in.

Lmfao Isaac.

We already have a couple in GMS don't we?

They don't really do anything for us. >.>

IMO, They can add them. It wouldn't hurt anything. We don't really need them though.

Lich and the Snow Witch or whatever, but I think they were either removed or just don't spawn.

The lich's destruction mechanisms are in place but the lich itself isn't spawning. The witch was spawning before, but it's destruction mechanism was not there so they were impossible to eliminate. It has since been removed (One of the few tespia bugs that they actually acted on, I think!)

IsaacGS Wrote:and yes, how it works is the bot catching monster is aggro-ed by any attack on it (miss or hit) and then casts a magic attack that returns the player to a nearby monster-free map (Usually a town, though some of them send you to dungeon entrances like the Shade)

So a warrior training (or just walking around) with Power Guard on, will be whisked away if one of these bot-catching monsters bumps into him?
This does not sound good at all.

Plus, as mentioned before, what about the poor legit players who don't read forums, websites, or even Nexon's annoucements? They wouldn't know why this monster has this power, or how to disable it.

I don't think we have such a problem with botting that such measures need to be taken.

Players may get tricked once or twice, but they will try to find out what's wrong with that monster, and succeeds in doing so.

They would, but then that's their own fault. For one, these monsters have blue text announcements when they spawn just like area bosses. You are alerted to their presence immediately. If someone doesn't care enough to educate themselves on the goings on in game then they deserve to get sent back several times. >_> Honestly, are there really people who don't read the notices, at least at patch time? Not to mention the game launcher itself is gonna be shoving the announcement in your face.

it's pretty common sense on how to get rid of them, for some of them (like Shade which I used in that example) have an NPC right at the beginning of the map. Anyone will notice "Hey that's new" and click it, or just out of curiosity. If they don't read the announcements OR even do this, then well that's tough luck. It'll teach them to pay attention in the future. For the other bot-catching monsters, the mechanism to defeat it is a reactor, and there's an explanation on the reactor of how to eliminate it.

The other thing is that most of the maps where bot catching monsters appear on are relatively close to town. Wraiths are what, 4 maps away from the subway? The Snow witch spawns 3 and 5 maps outside of El Nath. The ones in Magatia are only 2 maps in. The only one where it's a real problem to get sent back is Lich at Zombies.

Then there are people who go around and kill the bot-catching monsters because they drop cards. It really won't be a big deal.

It's my own fault for having Power Guard on while training at Zombies?

No, it's a person's fault for not visiting forums, reading game announcements on the website, and the blue text in game. Frankly if you can't even pay that much attention to what you're doing then you probably wouldn't care that you got sent back.

Not really... Just for slamming against the bot catching monster with it :p

I think you're missing something. When it appears in your map, a blue notice will come up in the chat log straight away, so you will know that it is there, and can watch out for it, and even disable PG if it bothers you that much...

It wasn't always there, though, and it works in the same way that the bot-catching monster elimination process works. Essentially, Jr. Boogie and Fierry were the original bot-catching monsters.

Is that the reason why the Fierry is named something like Fierry 2 or Fairy 2 or w/e? :o

I personally would like it if they turned the lich one into a badass boss monster. It isn't necessary where it is (or suppose to be) anymore, the zombie map is ruined for training (compared to before) so it just shouldn't be a bot catcher.

I really wish they would revert back to the old zombie maps. There are more maps available for players 5x-7x so there is no need to nerf them. The old zombie maps were quite fun compared to many of today's sit and shoot maps. Sorry for the off topicness.
