Don't assume anything. Nexon might make it neutral to magic not boosted by the staff. aka, holy magic. D:

Yeah, 6 months to find a fix sounds about right for Nexon.

Actually, the plural of staff is spelled differently depending on where in the world you're talking about. Since this is global maple, staffs and staves can be used interchangably, though I personally prefer staves.
I'm starting to get the feeling that they're getting a lot of complaints from people who use a lot of nx on gacha and that "investigating the issue" means a meeting on whether or not flipping the elemental bonus switch on would make them gain or lose money.

i dont see why elemental staff/wand would go up in prices
first of all.. now... bishops can use them...
later on, bishops wont be able to?... hence the people demanding the wand/staff would be archmages only... so wouldn't the price drop?
also even if it did go up in price, woulnd't it more expensive at the start only, but once most of the "rich" mages get it... the prices of these would fall....?

Unless these weapons existing and being functional motivates more people to create Mages instead of Bishops or motivates boss run organizers to finally give Mages a chance they've always deserved.
But the key point to notice is that with Bishops no longer wanting these things, that's a large demand cut off instantly. Demand cutting out will lead to lower prices, assuming supply is constant. The only x factor is whether or not them functioning will make the demand in Mages go higher to counter Bishops no longer wanting. But frankly, the 130 weapons are the best weapons in the game regardless of if these function or not; I doubt demand can be any higher than "every Magician in the game", particularly when the desired fix cuts off the largest subclass of the Magician class.

If people do decide to attempt bandwagoning AMs, chances are they're going to be lukless which could raise the wands above their initial prices. Though to be honest, Bishops far outnumber the people who'd have half a chance of hitting 130 to equip the beasts by bandwagoning the Mages. I don't think they will increase much more; as more of them enter the market, they can only deflate, albeit probably slowly.
yaaay for no competition over the 103/163 for mee. ^_^

Afro that is STANDARD economics.
This is MAPLE.
Nobody drops their prices.
Ever.
They just keep jacking them up and assuming they just need to wait longer.
And eventually someone saves up and buys the jacked up price.
And All the Sellers now Know they should sell for AT LEAST that
amount.
Or Some plantain Merchantter will go around buying the decently priced ones and post all of them with 1Bil+ Meso tag.
Even the ones we WON"T use- 163 Fire Stave =/= 1bil. mesos.

Speaking of supply and demand, I have to wonder how long people will keep blowing tons of NX on Gachapon trying to get these. From the surplus of certain items I see in MTS (Claw 30%, for example), it looks like people have been going crazy, most likely trying to get these elemental weapons. How long will that last?
Any predictions based on other versions that have had these for a while?

Because its not true, people only wait so long before realizing that a price is too high and must be dropped. Everything starts out expensive and gets cheaper as the demand lessens. It works that way in real life, and in maple as well.

Once everybody willing to save up 1bil+ for a new staff has one, there's no more market for them and prices start to come down, until the people who are only willing to save 800mil buy them, and so on. It just takes a while.

From knowing the gMS market, I doubt they would drop much... or even at all.
Look at the rigbol/stonetooth sword(?). Many warriors are dexless or have <40 dex now. Many heroes even went 1h. But the price of it has not dropped. They are still 100-300mil in Khaini depending on stats. They haven't dropped since the day they came out.
Also, it's not that people are "willing" to pay high for the things. It's because the marketers with connections won't bother lowering the prices when they know they're holding the very few supplies that a great number of people need.
Also the old "supply and demand" bs comes into play here. Gash will not spit them out at a reasonable rate and there are hundreds of archmages who need them, and thousands more who want them.

But eventually if people don't buy the item, they will be forced to sell it for a lower price so they can get rid of it. Personally, I'm not buying an elemental stave until they're only a few hundred mil.

Not really. Unlike the real world, there are no drawbacks to having cartels and price fixing in Maple.

Well, hopefully people will just run out of patience and just lower the price.
I can wait. Once I get 165 luk I'll just play other characters until it's about 200m. :/

Yeah, meso selling/farming and hacking in general mess it up, if you catch the economy at a bad time things never deflate because it's so easy for certain groups of people to just continue buying every single cheap item and jacking the price up. I mean look at when a guild literally bought out the entire supply of Onyx Apples on Bera. They went from 1.5mil to 3mil pretty much overnight, and there ended up being only a couple shops selling them, with 1000+ apples in each. It takes a hefty amount of mesos to do it, but once you've got a monopoly, you can set the price where you want. People need the items to participate in some aspects of the game, so they accept the price increase.
There's not a whole lot individuals can do, boycotting FM1-2 helps but a significant portion of the people on the server would have to do it for them to lose their grip on the economy.

Well, they shouldn't be mad because they weren't originally made for them, and it's not like they're stuck with it. They can still profit off reselling it.

sadly ive only run into marketers owning them in bellocan x___x
3 of the 4 ive found (lvl 130 set) were ones people bought in bello for 400-600m and are reselling for 600-1.3b+
also because of the small fire mage and ice mage community in bellocan, people aren't willing to pay as much as in other servers like scania (and keep pushing scania prices of 1.5b-maxmeso) so marketers have been opting to actually transfer them to scania to sell
most also seem to have the opinion them being fixed should raise prices,.... which is annoying because that dosent make ANY market sense, esp in this server
hopefully once the new effect of them goes away people wont be jacking all the good ones for profit T___T though bellocan might be a bit different since there's not many active marketers but the ones that are active, are willing to spend whatever money required to make extra meso
