Yeah, don't they already charge for other things in the Cash Shop, where the ONLY possible function of the cash item would be to protect your stuff if your account is infiltrated maliciously? "I wanted to protect myself from accidentally dropping my zhelm!" No... they knew people were getting "hacked" and they made the item locks as a "security" against them.

The verification system shouldn't be a paid feature though, or if it is, it should be a low one-time expense. Do they charge for it on kMS?

And no, I don't think it would take much more time. Not much more time than it takes to hunt for characters on the software keyboard to input the PIC. The code needn't even be very long, either. If it was just four to five characters long and temporarily locked the IP address out after four or five failed attempts, I think that would be fine. They could even be extra safe and say 6 characters long and lock IP after only 3 failed attempts.
