You forget that the USA has this ridiculous system of voting by state. If you're a Democrat and you're voting in your home state that's 90% Democrat anyway, your vote means nothing. If you go and vote in a state that's 50/50, your vote could turn the whole election around. So, all these young people chose to go to school in a contested state, for the sole purpose of casting the decisive vote when the time comes...
