you need enough str to meet the requirement without equipping either the item or your previous item for that slot. since you have a 17 str ravana hat, you have to exclude the str it gives from the vepar hat's requirements. hence, you need 160 (vepar req) + 17 (ravana loss) = 177 str to exchange the ravana hat for the vepar hat. equivalently, you need to have 160 str without your ravana hat on.

the same thing applies to other equips, youre current glove has no str on it, so you only need to have 140 str to replace it with a vepar glove. replacing your shoes will require 144 str since your squishy shoes have 4. your current gun has 3 str, so youll need 163 to replace it with a bloody gun.

however, also keep in mind that for an item to stay equipped, it cant be using its own stats to equip itself. to keep both the shoe and glove equipped if theyre each 10 str, you need to have at least 150 str at any time or theyll unequip. so you could have 130 str with your normal equips excluding shoe and glove, equip say... an earring with an extra 10 str, equip both shoe and glove, and then unequip the earring, leaving you with 150 str. if you then unequip either shoe or glove, the other will red out and youll have to use the earring to re-equip.
