A few things.
When is this update with minecon? I ask because I know the update is a deadline for some of my construction projects, as we'll be returning to the norm of Survival mode.
I also wonder if anyone else would be interested in a group project (ie no cheating with "give" or creative) on something I was inspired to do by one of my own comments in the main minecraft thread. I said something along the lines of "I'm more impressed with things that look neat, but scale well for the player's size." Then I thought, why not throw it the entirely opposite direction and make the regular obscenely huge? So I figured once the update is out, we can explore into one direction for new content and then make a new hub to explore nearby directions. What would it be? A 5x5 wooden house. With blocks scaled to the pixels of the default texture. People could live under the bed, in the walls, or on a bookshelf or something. Maybe lock someone up in the attic. Just give me a direction for the new hub and I'll start the groundwork as soon as we finish exploring the new areas.
As for the mycellum or whatever biome dome idea I had earlier, depending on how common they are, I may or may not wait for things to become as inactive as they are now before I work on that.
Lastly, the lake's edge around my castle is pretty close to being done, so I'm still looking for more neighbors if you hadn't shown up already. The last bit of refinement should be done tonight, along with the framework for the final two towers of the castle. At the end of the day, this castle won't really be a looker on the exterior; but it was originally designed to be built out of a rock anyway. Still gotta figure out how to get that front flag on it though given the resulting surface I have to work with.
