I originally wrote it as that because et is and in Latin, which I take, but I decided that it just sounded wrong which is actually usually a pretty good indicator of whether something is grammatically correct.
I'm sure whether something sounding right or not in a language you don't know is a pretty good indicator of whether it is grammatically correct.
