So lets use occams razor; Which is more plausible.
Cigarettes, smoking of which undeniably cause lung cancer to the user, magically do not harm other people nearby who are exposed to them, despite the exposure being often in larger quantities than the actual smoker who has the benefit of a filter, or they're dangerous to everyone equally.
Yeah. The latter seems to win out without any unbiased proof to the contrary and some pretty decent explanations of how.
