Sounds like either a Middle-School relationship or a High-School one. As the poster above me said, High-School relationships are uh.. well, a lot of them don't tend to work out well. Most of the girls that I knew in High School were in one way or another, sluts, skanks, etc. Not all, of course, I've known a couple nice and intelligent ones back in the days.
IMO, I think around College is when most people mature up and realize that it's wrong to use another person for their motives. Or in my perspectives anyways, in High School, I thought a lot of the kids that were either in my grades or below were pretty stupid and immature.
In College, I thought people were ordinary human-beings. People accepted me for who I was, I accepted them for who they were. Also, you are right about one thing, don't let anyone tell you who you should go out with, or how you should change yourself in order to fit in. I did back in High School to hang out with some of those people I called friends, in the end, I was completely myself, and I ended up having better friends in the process, as well as having a girlfriend. So that's my advice to you. Have fun with your life, don't let anybody push you around, and being yourself is the best reward in life.
